Bidra med feedbackExcellent food and service - this young chef deserves to succeed. I would strongly recommend a visit if in the area - my daughter had her favourite meal ever!!
During our stay at the Host & Vinum hotel in Canet-en-Roussillon, we went out to have dinner one night at Le Don Quichotte, a very nice little restaurant owned by a young couple : he is the chef, she attends to the guests while talking extensively about the ingredients, the cooking and the wine.We ordered à la carte as they had no particular house menu, and everything was to our full satisfaction - however slightly overpriced, to my humble opinion.Anyway, if you are looking for a gastronomic dinner in Canet, I'd say Le Don Quichotte would be your second best choice right after Host & Vinum's Le Clos des Pins.
This restaurant has ambitions to be haute cuisine and for some parts it works. The mise en bouche was fantastic and a fish main course was excellent. Other dishes were good, and would perhaps have been great with some more daring seasoning. Overall recommended.
Thank you previous reviewers We detoured to Canet Plage specifically to try this restaurant and were very pleased we did. My magret de canard aux figues was grilled to perfection and the poires belle Helene were to die for! My spouse was equally pleased with his "Rouget". We had a bottle of Domaine de la Farge, Cote de Rousillon, 2011. Including the starters( salades gourmandes) the total bill was 69 euros. Service was very attentive and we had a great chat with the chef afterwards. Must have been all those yummy noises we were making that brought him out to meet us.
Fine food, but marred by two things. First, server knocked over a full glass of expensive wine but did not replace it. Second, when asked if tip is included in bill, the answer was "non". We left a cash tip, but later learned that the bill was "service compris", i.e, tip included. It is these things that annoy you when your bill is 200 Euros.
