Best Robata and Sushi Bar I’ve visited in a while!! Highly recommend this place.

No words can describe this sushi. Best in SoCal can only begin to sum up the service and the spread. If you go there and don’t order the Padres roll, you will have done yourself a disservice. Best item on the menu! Thanks for giving me and my friends from out of town a great dinner! Will definitely be a regular now! Cheers! Jacob

Outstanding establishment. Food, drink and ambiance get 5 stars and two thumbs up from 'this ' reviewer. A fine addition to Carlsbad Village! The decor is sleek, modern and elegantly soothing, boasting an atmosphere of cheerful (and many loyal patrons. Staff and management have a keen eye for perfection... never skipping a beat. Belly up to the cocktail bar, robata bar, sushi bar or a table for your dining adventure. Get ready for a unique edible experience. Late dining also available... quite a treat for our quaint seaside village. I started the evening with Blue Ocean 's signature Moscow Mule (my first ever The handcrafted copper mug full of heaven was recommended by Chris, the GM, who treated me like royalty. That ignited an evening of culinary excellence and dining satisfaction. Thank you Chris and Blue Ocean staff! My lovely server Carrie (spelling? recommended a little combo of sushi and robata. The meal began with their popular Tsunami Roll... Maguro (tuna wrapped on the outside with Tempura Shrimp and other delights inside. YUM. Then came the robata grilled salmon on skewers with secret sauce and bacon wrapped asparagus. Euphoric! Curious to try Blue Ocean 's Nigiri selections, I also ordered the Maguro and Unagi (eel sushi. Delightfully generous portions, fresh, tender, savory and perfectly prepared. I probably didn 't need the extra Nigiri indulgence, as I left absolutely stuffed with a 'to go ' box... but happy. Reservations highly recommended for tables, robata and sushi bar seating. This is a very hip and happening spot. What a treat! We stumbled upon this place for lunch a few weeks back while visiting Oceanside. The Sushi was outstanding!!!! Super fresh and tasted like the ocean. We enjoyed the Tsunami Roll with Yellowtail, Toro with fresh Wasabi, Tempura Vegetables, the Yellowtail Crudo and assorted Sashimi Our young chef was fantastic as well. Sadly, I do not recall his name.

Great sushi and beautiful ambiance! It was a little pricey but worth it for the special occasion.
