La Illusion Bakery - Carpentersville

I really would love to give this place 5 stars I really love their tamales and Mexican bread but the older lady at the counter is really rude she was super rude to this man who came in and just simply asked if the tamales were spicy and she answered him so rude that he got upset and left. If you don’t like your job than maybe go out and find something else no need to be rude to others also the whole time she was complaining that it was so busy she couldn’t take her break.

I hate that they don't do two types of fillings on smaller cakes. They will only do it for larger cakes. They use to be able to do it and now they don't want to.

The place was a little dirty, which was a red flag, but I still purchased several items. The second red flag was that the baking sheets where some of the pastries are stored were extremely filthy. The third red flag was that I saw a fly in one of the closed shelves where they keep some pastries. I didn't say anything and I regret it because I could have helped prevent anyone getting those pastries. For that I am sorry. So I'm writing this review now to forewarn others, because it was not acceptable for me to find a small dead fly embedded into one of the pastries. I threw them all away after that. While I know that things like that will happen, I believe all the other signs illustrate the store is being poorly kept. I hope this feedback is helpful toward cleaning up the place and putting quality control measures around safeguarding the pastries from insects.

So disappointed with what I got the first picture is what I wanted and this is what they gave me and they told if they had trouble making what I ordered that they would give me a call which they never called to tell me they wouldn’t be able to make it how I want it never again will I order from this place
