The Friary - Carrickfergus

I would like to start by saying that I will never return to or recommend this restaurant to anyone. I placed an order for collection and found that the chips were missing. It was noted in the book that we were owed these chips. The following week, when I placed another order, the missing chips were included. However, the person who served us placed two tubs of boiling curry sauce upside down in the bag. This resulted in my son's girlfriend suffering severe burns on her legs. Despite contacting the restaurant, we never received a call back from the manager and our calls were ignored. This way of packing items is extremely dangerous and needs to be addressed. The lack of response and poor customer service from management has ensured that I will not be returning to this restaurant.

The restaurant lacks the skill in creating quality Fish and chips. The batter is overly greasy and does not meet expectations. It is clear that they do not prioritize quality in their dishes.

This restaurant is not good. It has become very expensive and is one of the most expensive in town. When I tried to order, a staff member walked away after serving the person in front of me without acknowledging me. The chips were hard, the pastie was soggy with batter coming off, and the curry sauce was watery and lumpy. It's hard to believe, but the sauce was actually watery with lumps in it, suggesting it had not been stirred enough. There are other restaurants in the area that receive rave reviews and are cheaper, so we will try those instead. It's baffling how this restaurant has won awards.

I usually enjoy the food from here. Not tonight. I ordered a cod supper and after waiting 20min I took it home and opened it up. The cod was Thin and dry,mostly batter and also burned. £7.95 wasted. I could have taken it back but I'm angry and pissed off and things could escalate. But I will NEVER be back. There are plently of other chippys in Carrick who wont rip you off.
