Bidra med feedbackWhile Smokey Bones is a chain, it remains one of my personal favorites. It’s our go-to spot for dinner, especially when my partner and I are feeling a bit lazy and don’t want to travel far, or when we’re in the mood for some BBQ. I have to admit, their loyalty program (the Bones Card) and available coupons are great incentives for us to return. While saving time and money is a bonus, I genuinely enjoy the food. The two-and-three plate combos offer a selection of delicious meats along with two sides. I tend to choose the pulled pork and brisket, and their chicken is surprisingly good as well! You can enjoy the meats with or without sauce, but I’m a fan of the sweet and spicy variety. For sides, I usually go with broccoli, a baked potato, or fries. The fire-grilled corn has a nice little kick to it, which fits its name perfectly. Although I've tried the turkey burger, I always find myself returning to the BBQ options. Their wings are also fantastic! The atmosphere is family-friendly, complete with plenty of TVs for sports enthusiasts. The restaurant is spacious, and they usually have a good number of servers on hand. Don’t forget to check out the beer specials, particularly the Bones Brew. I also enjoy the amusing "Boneisms" displayed on the walls—they're cheesy, but they always make me smile. A little humor goes a long way!
My parents come to this location every Friday night for their date night. How cute. Unfortunately, every time I have gone with them my experience has not been the greatest. The last time I went was my last time- and their last time- we would attend this location. It was a slow Friday night, about 4 families in the entire restaurant including us and I guess they were short staffed. It took about 15 minutes before we were greeted by our waiter (who was also training). By that time, we had all our meals picked out including my 1 1/2 year olds meal. Typically, when we go out to eat with our son, we put his meal in first so that he doesn't have to wait too long before eating. Unfortunately, after we were greeted by our waiter we gave him our order and watched as he did not put our order in immediately. Instead, he went and got the drinks for the table next to us and brought them their drink one at a time. I've never seen this anywhere before. It took about another 15 minute to put our order in, which we had to tell him to put our order in because our son was hungry. Our burgers then took another 20-30 minutes to come out. By that time, our son was done with his meal and was getting ancy. In the end, we received our check. We asked for separate checks but apparently it's by table. We paid separately. My parents had a coupon for their meal, and my son's meal should have been free because I ordered an entree. Unfortunately, they said he could not eat free because one person at the table was using a coupon. Needless to say, after a lot of back and forth, the manager came over and fixed the check. I really would have not mind paying for my sons meal but after being there with the experience we had I was just done. The service here lacked any form of hospitality. It was slow, they weren't busy and honestly the food wasn't that good.
I have not been to the Bones in a long time. A friend and I went here after a long meeting. We sat at the bar. The bartender was on nice and on point with each and every drink. I had a peach buzz which was damn good!!! We talked and really enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. Service was great by all. My food arrived in a swift manner and my hamburger was cooked as ordered. It was juicy, meaty and plan ole good. Baked potato was not overcooked and had my ordered trimmings. Nice dinner!
We had a reservation for a friend's 50th birthday for about 20 people however they didn't mention until we got to the restaurant that they wouldn't be able to seat us all together. They sat us all at different booths in the same area so unfortunately we weren't all able to visit together. I was concerned when I walked in because the place was absolutely dead. There were two other tables in the entire place. It was 6pm on a Sunday night so I expected there to be more people than that. No one came in after us the entire time we were there. I read the reviews on yelp and that made me see potentially why it was so dead in the restaurant. I wish I could say our experience was better than expected but it really wasn't. Strike one was that they couldn't seat us together. Strike two was that they informed us once we were all finally ready to order that they were out of baked and mashed potato as well as broccoli. That's what most of us were going to order as sides so we took a moment to change our minds. The waitress was sweet and it wasn't her fault but it's pretty ridiculous that this place ran out of two of the biggest sides and didn't offer any compensation. Their excuse was they'd been busy the night before and had run out. However I highly doubt that they were that busy because the place was so abnormally dead. The food was alright. They forgot my garlic bread so I had to wait for that. They gave my friend the wrong sides so she had to ask them to bring them to her. Also the checks came back and the waitress had put the wrong meals on the wrong people's checks so they had to be re-done. Overall, a disappointment, especially for my friend's 50th birthday. I Won't be back.
During my most recent visit, the half chicken was definitely the standout dish. I’ve had their chicken breast before, and it was both satisfying and flavorful, beyond just the sauce. I wanted to try their brisket again, but it wasn’t included in any of the combos without an extra charge. What a surprise! I’m glad I didn't go that route and instead opted for the baby back ribs along with another meat, which didn’t have a surcharge (though it still cost over $19 with two sides). The ribs were decent; at least they were slow-cooked and not just boiled with sauce piled on. However, the brisket was a huge disappointment. I’m no expert, but the brisket was sliced too thinly, making it neither tender nor flavorful. It was a sad excuse for Texas BBQ, and the portion size was tiny. I didn't have my kitchen scales with me in the restaurant, but I could tell it was just over 3 ounces—which is simply not a good value at all!
