Bidra med feedbackRestaurants in Cazorla don't seem to open until very late (8.30 9pm) so we went in here as it was open. Glad we didn't read the reviews first because they might have put us off a very pleasant experience. Two of us had the Jabali al horno (roast wild boar), one had the roast chicken and the fourth had the lentil soup with chorizo. All very tasty and the meat succulent. Excellent bottle of house red wine to wash it all down. Liberal portions. Seems popular with the locals which is always a good sign. Give it a try.
We wanted to sit in the main restaurant, but were sent to the outside bar, which was fine, only tofind our, much later, how awful it was. The waiter was inexperienced, even though we spoke Spanish, he didn't know what on earth we wanted. Is Gin and Tonic very difficult? we ordered salad to start with AND bread with aioli, then one wild boar steak with veg, NO chips, and A beef steak... the salad arrived and a plate of chips. we sent it back and asked for bread, which came tostada with tomatoes and couple of garlic.... the wild board was dry, chewy and tasteless....the steak was tender and juicy, until we found out that only 25% of it was edible, the rest was fat. when we got the bill, we were surprised how expensive it was... the waitress just looked at our full plate still and said nothing!!!!! Needless to say, we didn't leave a tip. The following night, we went to the across the road (see next review) and was delighted. but were not surprised to see every single bar/restaurant were full and this one was empty.... does it say something????
We first went into this restaurant 4 years ago, it was snowing outside the owner put hot coals from the fire in a cage under the table to warm our legs which we thought was very kind. We returned to Cazorla last week went back ate there, the food was excellent portions were really big, we were again given a warm welcome by the owner. We plant to return to Cazorla next year will be eating there again.
