Chimney Indian Kitchen - Chapel Hill

The ambiance was lovely, with window seats that let you watch the world go by. The presence of books and a cozy corner made the professor in me feel right at home. The outdoor seating is wonderful as well. The dishes were clean, and the host was very charming, though they nearly forgot us when we asked for a bit more time. The food was reasonably priced, served in generous portions, and was delightfully fresh. I would definitely return. The host kindly allowed me to get a whole bottle of wine for the price of just two drinks, as I collect wine bottles from India. Overall, it was a delightful evening with delicious food and great vibes. As for vegetarian options, there were some beautiful choices available.

The Thali lunch special was served hot and included a nice variety of dishes. The staff was friendly and provided great service. The quality of the food was excellent.

One of the best Indian meals I've ever had in New Zealand, and definitely one of the top curries in town.

Tikka Masala is flavorful and a great portion, but the chicken was on the dry side. Naan portion is fairly small, especially for the price. It was supposed to be garlic naan and was plain. They charged extra for garlic. Had a double order of Samosas, but they forgot both the plum and chutney sauces that go with it…leaving them plain/dry. Packing a cold mango lassi in with the hot food while the bag waited at the bar top, why? Why ask for a tip ahead of time, I left 20%, if service is going to be this lazy? This was the second time ordering takeout and service was a let down this time…be sure to double check all orders.

We tried this restaurant on a recent trip to Chapel Hoo, and we’re glad we did. The food was absolutely great. The staff were very accommodating, friendly and attentive. They gave us excellent recommendations and helped us determine the spice level (medium worked for us). We got large portions and it is an excellent value. Highly recommended!
