Mario's Italian - Charleston

Excellent restaurant. Family owned Great food, great service, great atmosphere and awesome espresso martinis. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Went to Mario’s with a party of 9; arrived just before 5 pm on Friday night to grab a quick bite before a concert, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more accommodating! The espresso martini was out of this world and our food was just as good. Service was prompt and courteous. Definitely a great spot, there was a line to get in when we left.

I would leave less than 1 star if I could. We got appetizers and they were obviously frozen, so we told our waitress we wouldn’t like anything more and would just like the check. She went to the bar and was on her phone for 15 minutes. After we paid, I told the manager that our service was horrible and he stated “maybe that was your problem.” Then he proceeded to argue with my husband in front of the restaurant. 0/10. Will not be back.

Since the owner responded that my review was “fake,” I’ll adjust my review to include the facts. Our experience at Mario’s was not great. We went with high hopes for some good pizza, based on the reviews. We ordered calamari and mozzarella sticks off the appetizer section, and we were disappointed. The food seemed frozen but not terrible. We told the waitress we were just going to have the appetizers and asked for a check, and that’s when it all changed. The waitress disappeared for quite some time, so we had to ask another person to go find her. When we left, the owner was outside and began berating our party. He made a comment about how we “just ordered appetizers and that’s why our service was so terrible,” and he was extremely rude. The food wasn’t the worst, but the owner’s attitude was unlike anything I’ve ever come across. 0/10 recommend.

Omg absolutely incredible experience. We arrived at 9:30 on a Saturday night and were immediately greeted and seated. Fantastic alcohol selection and food options. The bartender who served us was eager to make suggestions or give a sample of wine when asked. There was complimentary bread and oil brought which paired perfectly with our wine! The calamari and marinara was so delicious and the little Italy pizza....there were 0 leftovers. Delish and would 100% recommend. The lighting was perfect and moody.
