Tropic Frost - Charlestown

My experience at Tropic Frost has been incredibly disappointing. For the past six years, every time I’ve visited, the slushy machine has been out of order. At this point, it feels misleading to advertise slushies when the machine has essentially been broken for most of a decade. On my latest visit, there was a power outage, and my family and I were unable to order anything. It’s frustrating because on the rare occasions I’ve been able to try their ice cream, it’s actually been quite good. However, something always seems to go wrong at this poorly managed establishment. While I’ve faced personal hardships, it’s concerning that Tropic Frost continues to operate despite being so unreliable; it seems to thrive on the ignorance of unsuspecting tourists. The situation feels desperate—either step up to improve it or let it fade away already.

This place is quite the experience. I ordered a small item, which was priced at $5, but it was disappointingly tiny—about the size of a cocktail wiener. The person who took my order gave off major creepy vibes. To top it off, he had what looked like sprinkles stuck under his fingernails, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that he might have spat in my ice cream before serving it.

Delicious hard ice cream after a day at the beach and tasty lobster rolls. I highly recommend Graham Central Station!

I just spent $23 on a large pizza that looks more like a small, and the medium I ordered looks like it’s meant for kids. I wouldn’t recommend this place—try Holy Cow instead.
