Bidra med feedbackGreat food; great service (although a little slow paced for the 90 minute window they give on the reservation they were ready to flip table for next seating and we were still wanting to order more; two hour slots would be more realistic imho); ambience is good especially upstairs. We had a table upstairs. Wish they wouldn’t let <18s sit at the bar; nothing kills a sushi bar vibe more than sitting next to a seven yo; but I guess is . Definitely would go back; the major negative is the food value prices are for the amount of food given. We had four people and spent just under 400; we left content but not overly stuffed. Their cocktails and Sake offering is solid; most tend to be on the sweeter side but still good.
Extremely high quality sushi such as tuna belly and scallops at a very reasonable price presented in one of the best restaurant decors I've experienced in my world travels. The cherry blossom ceilings are both gorgeous as a design element and for minimizing noise a detail which is mysteriously often ignored in restaurant design. The Yakatori is sumptuous especially the lobster, bone marrow, and Japanese street corn. Saku's rolls are shockingly special and delicious. The wait staff is impeccable, a special shout out to Ben who iinobtrusively served our every wish. Truly a five star experience and we will be back, often!
Great service and community, dumplings were the best part of the meal (pork dumplings). Sushi was great, weird sort of cold/warm taste, but then again it’s a sushi I had not tried before. Has cold and warm/hot parings. But overall great taste. I really loved it all. Would go again!
Amazing! Great variety of sushi rolls, some familiar and some not. Wide variety of appetizers. We tried these rolls: Jade Dragon (wonderful flavor texture), Nirvana (salmon and it gets torched and has a unique smoky flavor) and the salmon skin (crispy great flavor). Plus we had seaweed salad. Waiter was attentive, friendly helpful. The restaurant is right across from the Belk theater and close to parking garages. We had reservations at the theater, so this was a perfect place to go before the show!
We were looking for a nice place to eat dinner for NYE, and I was very excited to find Saku! Definitely my kind of place. Here's the down low: Atmosphere: Hip, upscale, and cool vibe. Downstairs is quiet and chic. Upstairs is energetic with beautiful cherry blossom motif and vibey music. Drinks: Had a variety of drinks and very creative ones too. I got the Koi Pond which was delicious and apparently the most popular. Food: No complaints at all! Had the calamari, which came with a delicious sauce 2 sushi rolls a classic tempura shrimp and the TLC. Definitely had some creative rolls on the menu that I appreciated! Wished there was a signature roll with tempura included. Service: Bartenders were very friendly and cool. Service time was pretty good too, especially given the packed house for NYE. Price: Reasonable for the area! I would definitely recommend and return! Also, there are 3 bars/lounges on the floors above Saku. We ended up spending the entire NYE night between Dahlia's on floor 4 and the rooftop bar at Novelty House on floor 5. Had a really great time all around!
