Bidra med feedbackOnly the third time, but its absolutely a family favorite. It's unique enough I would say there is no other place like it in VA. That alone should get your attention. Often most visit in the Summer and Fall and that was the case for me. It's much more than apples which it's often billed as. On a recent the peaches were gorgeous! The shop has lots of fresh goods to not miss. As well do NOT miss out on their legendary cider donuts. It's easy to locate right off highway 64, follow the signs. It's a pull to get up the mountain, be prepared. Plenty of parking once on top. The views are magnificent!
Sign out front says no pets. Nice orchard. Can pick your own fruits. Ice cream. Apple donuts.
Review based on experience from 2015, 2017 Came here a number of times when I visited Charlottesville. Came for apple picking and also just to enjoy the sunset. Orchard picking is always fun. The maintain their orchard well. Of course if you got the tail end of the pickings, they have a market where you can buy pre-picked items. As with most orchards you can buy extras like apple butter, apple cider, apple cider donuts, etc. They often have events during the spring/summer/fall. Particularly around sunset. We came one time during the summer and it was packed. They had live music and wine tastings. They were also selling peach slushies, which was very refreshing on a hot summer's day. Because it is located on the mountain, expect a bit of elevation change and a drive up to lot.
Love this place. First time here. We didn't have time to go picking but you can if you want. They also have apples, peaches as well as some veggies for sale by the basket. They have several ciders available. Bold Rock has a store down stairs with a phenomenal view. Their is a wine store as well as a gift shop on site. They also make apple cider donuts!! They are fantastic. The view is absolutely amazing. There was a food vendor there the day we went. (Vision BBQ) WOW!!! They had smoked bbq with three different sauces available. We ordered a sample of each; A sweet, a vinegar and an apple mustard. Once I tried the smoked bbq, I didn't want any sauce but I did try each. Being from eastern NC I am partial to vinegar based, however they were all good. But I prefer Ed this bbq without sauce.
Always love the view : My husband and I used to come here during our college years for Apple picking Tip: go earlier in the morning to heat the rush, especially in the fall Not too crowded this time around plenty of tables to sit at! Definitely more crowded in the fall from our experience so far. We haven't been peach picking, but bought freshly picked peaches : the soft serve was also delicious! Can't go wrong with fresh donuts as well We loved that bold rock was right under the general store! Favorites: imperial apple and vat ? Did not love the wine slushy way too sweet for me
