Bidra med feedbackFamily had fish and chips and I had lobster roll. Nothing stellar and disappointed with food temperatures. Very surprised that chips were frozen and not hand-cut. Very nice view of pier but seating is awkward...very low to table
We stopped in at Captain Jack's on a whim. As we pulled into the lot we let the attendant know we were going to for dinner and he waived us right in. The restaurant itself has outside dining and inside dining with an outdoor feel There are large doors that are open to let the breeze in. The food was very good - good portion size and not too pricey at all. What made the restaurant all the more appealing was the service. We had a great waiter (Sean/Shawn). He was upbeat and check with us to see how everything was (even though my sister can ask a thousand questions LOL) If you are ever in Charlottetown stop in. Enjoy a good meal with great service. (If your lucky you will get Sean/Shaun as your waiter)
In 2008 I drove into Charlottetown with family and found a place to park, and since it was getting late into the afternoon started to look for a place to have lunch that would have a water view, so ended up here - although I think it had a different name then. After eating and starting to wander around I realized that the action is actually over on the other side of Queen Street. I usually put more effort into planning and it's certainly not like me to make the same mistake twice but I did the same thing on my return visit to PEI this summer, except that now the food was even more mediocre than last time. I'm not sure that there are better restaurants over near Peakes Quay but it sure looked like it.
Atmosphere, Atmosphere, Atmosphere, that what really makes this place so special. Yes the food was awesome, yes the service was great, yes the beer is cold, yes the view is awesome. But shh....ush.... don't tell too many people about this hidden gem or it may be ruined.
I was there with a large group (about 20) on a rainy night so the place was almost empty except for us. Everyone's food was good but the service was like something from a TV comedy show. When we needed an extra table added to our line of 6 tables, the waitress stood against the wall and pulled another table into the end of the line, trapping herself between the wall and the new table and preventing the additional people from getting in behind the table. She either had to move the table out again or crawl under it to get out. Some of our group helped move it out again. Then they brought beer to someone who had clearly ordered a glass of house red. Next they brought caramel cheesecake desserts to 2 of the group who had ordered chocolate cheesecake. The large number of our group who ordered strawberry short cake didn't fare any better. The strawberries had a metallic taste and no one could eat it so they were all sent back as well. If it was the very start of the season, inexperienced staff could be blamed but at this point in the season, they should have known what they were supposed to be doing.
