Despite being booked and receiving an email reminder we arrived for Christmas Eve breakfast at 9. 15am to find they weren't open until 10am and weren't doing breakfast. Very poor customer service.

Been coming here since I was a nipper, it’s always cheap and cheerful, now I’m saddened to find a change of ownership has gone all fur coat no knickers. They have slapped some wallpaper up, they threw some gold spray painted junk on the walls, and you pay more than a fiver a pint for the privilege. The same sad hipster decor you get in other greene king pubs. I used to drop in after I visit my disabled sister as it helps me wind down and focus on me. was excited to see the refurb as the place has been looking tired. But now it’s not cheap, it’s not cheerful. The staff were very friendly and it’s not their fault, it’s just a shame this is what counts as an upgrade in Sunak’s Britain. I bumped into an old friend as I was leaving (couldn’t even finish my £5 Guinness it tasted funny) who said he met the new owner on the first day they were open, she sounds like a strange choice. Overall it’s a shame it’s not a pub for normal people anymore.

I already had a delicious evening meal, with excellent friendly service with family at The Brock earlier this week. The pub has undergone a tasteful and spaceous refurb, with some restructuring. Due to have lunch next day (yesterday) with a group of seniors, I spotted the perfect table (153) for us and booked it there and then. Kindly assisted by the licencee manager, I could see there is a comprehensive system in place I wanted to surprise my friends. No spoilers, but do look up for something completely different. They loved it! The staff, in our case led by Holly, were all you could hope for. The table was comfortable and well-lit. Our food, from the Seniors menu, was perfect. The meals were not overfilling and we could have taken advantage of a special price for 2 or 3 courses. Highly recommended. We hope to repeat the experience! Thank you Holly and friends.
