Bidra med feedbackThis local neighborhood small restaurant in the heart of Chicago's Mexican district, Pilsen, has one item on the menu, goat. Roast goat, goat stew, goat soup, goat tacos. And it is amazingly good. The goat clearly has been slow cooked for hours and falls off the bone, tender as can be. We shared a pound of stewed goat with a large consomme, limes, onion and tortillas for just $14 and we were full. One of my very favorite lunch places in Chicago. Be advised, the place is full of Mexican working class folk and lunchtime lines can be long. Very well worth it!
Delicious! This is authentic Mexican food. The staff was also very attentive. I will always come back for more!
Our Favorite morning stop Cash Only! The food is delicious and consistent. The service is excellent! Worth every bit of this experience!!
Oh man. So I stopped at this exit on my drive home from visiting family in Chicago to get gas. And we'll, we were snacky. Almost grabbed the kids some chicken strips from KFC and man am I glad I didn't. To start off this is a primarily Hispanic run business. Menu is in Spanish and workers and clients also do. The server that helped us was the kindest, most patient women I've met in the food service industry. She was helpful in ordering as I've never had birreria before and had no idea what to order. She walked me thru going as far as doing charades to get her point across. I am so grateful for her kindness. Because man, this food is so delicious. Home made with love and care. The meat (come to find out it was goat (head, tongue, cheek, shoulder from what I could understand , which I've never had before was tender and flavorful. The quesobirria was perfectly crisp, full of tender meat and just delicious. The meat with broth (consommé was the all star of this meal. I can't even describe it well enough. Just get it. When our broth was gone, our server came by with an offer to refill our bowl. Uhhhh, yes please. Broth from a pitcher is a first for me but it was unfair how delicious it was. I'll be dreaming of this steamy, rich, meaty goodness for a while I'm sure.
I don't know what happened but the last time I got tacos from this place they were so soggy that I couldn't even pick them up out the wax paper! What I was left with was literally slop. I think I'll try someplace else. Any suggestions for good birria tacos?
