Bidra med feedbackDinner in the gallery was by far our gastronomic experience in Thailand. The family that belongs to the gallery was very warm and hospitable, and made us feel at home while they ate us through ten course of some of the best guided Thai food. The vast majority of the food is cultivated on the grounds of the gallery or purchased directly by breeders and fishermen on Koh Tao. The food in the gallery is a fascinating experience as Chris and his wife explain the history, cultural meaning and health benefits of every ingredient. The ambience and fantastic views of the sunset from the open dining room of the gallery high above the Sairee Bay are not to be missed.
Had an amazing evening here at “trust the chef” A very unique dining experience and some of Thailands best produce. Every dish has a story. Staff are exceptional and made everyone feel at home. Next time I’m back to Koh Tao I’ll be coming back.
Myself and my brother are went here for the ‘Trust the Chef’ evening. We were very pleased with the all round experience. Food was very tasty. Chris also explained each course as it came out, the core ingredients, the benefits of each ingredient and where in Thailand it originated from. Was slightly on the more expensive side, but well worth it.
‘Trust the Chef’ This is an experience not to be missed. It’s like no other dining experience and I can genuinely say this as I’ve had the privilege to eat in some fabulous restaurants around the world. Chris, owner and host, and Pbu his wife and chef take you on a culinary journey of taste experiences educating you on the origins of the ingredients and the dishes. Chris also shares knowledge of the medicinal benefits whilst explaining why the ingredients and their combinations and dishes have been created for the ‘Trust the Chef’ evening. From the moment you enter the restaurant you will be blown away by the ocean view from the hill top. The restaurant and bar is decorated with beautiful artifacts that hold stories themselves ask Chris about them : Chris and Pbu are a very interesting people and clearly passionate about what they are doing and it was a privilege to observe this and be a part of their ‘home’ environment for the evening. From the moment you walk in you are greeted by name and feel welcome and relaxed whilst you are invited to drinks and watch the sun go down. I can’t recommend this experience enough. Food allergies are also catered for and once you’ve had 10 amazing tasting courses you will leave feeling amazing! Please do understand the concept of this experience, each dish is a surprise and it is a tasting menu. Thank you Chris and Pbu keep doing what you are doing. Your food, the culinary journey you provide your passion about the natural ingredients of Thailand is truly inspiring.
This 10 course meal was exquisite. Chis was an excellent host and his wife Pu is an excellent chef she crafted 10 unique course steeped in traditional Thai culture using local and seasonal ingredients, and Chris gave a speech before each plate explaining the significance of each item and ingredient. It is a must do for foodies. It was hand down some of the best food I have had on the island. You will get there at 6 and dinner will be served at 7. The time between will be a cocktail hour as you watch the sun set from the beautiful mountain perch. Be sure to bring sunscreen and mosquito repellent. It is open to the elements. They where understaffed when I went so cocktails where not on option for us. But he does have a wide selection of wines beers and spirits. Draft beer or Tiger runs about 240 a pull and a cup of house wine runs about 310 a cup. My recommendation if you are on a budget is to wait until dinner and grab a bottle of his hand selected Thai vintages. They are only served with the meal and that run between 1200 and 2400 for a bottle. Additional notes: this location is remote and up a very step hill. It can be walked to from sairee, but walking down the main high way is very very sketchy. The easiest way up is on scooter. But a taxi cab can be driven up if necessary. The food is seasonal and changes every meal. These pictures are what I was served on June 17th. The menu will not be revealed before the meal Come hungry. 10 courses is a lot of food. Price for the meal is 1800 baht about $54 usd. But in my opinion it is worth it. It is the cutest restaurant I have seen on the island so bring a camera for pictures.
