Bidra med feedbackWe were recommended this restaurant by an employee, and we had a wonderful time! The atmosphere is really cool, and live music started just ten minutes after we arrived – they were excellent! I usually prefer a straightforward dish, like fried shrimp, and while I was surprised at how small they were, they were incredibly tasty! My husband had a hard time deciding what to order, so we ended up getting a bit of everything. I tried fried green tomatoes for the first time, and they were fantastic! We’re planning to return on a Monday night to try the beans and rice. Our waitress was amazing; she knew the menu inside and out and provided excellent service.
The Etouffee is delightful, although it's on the lighter side in terms of flavor intensity, making it ideal for the average Minnesotan palate. However, the standout for us was the Mississippi Mud Cake we had for dessert! It was incredibly rich and savory, featuring delightful crispy bits from roasted walnuts. The brownie-like center topped with a perfect meringue was not too heavy, striking an excellent balance of chocolate flavor.
There was live music, which typically isn't my favorite because it can be too loud, but thankfully we were seated far enough away that we could still enjoy our conversation. The Jambalaya was delicious—different from what I've had at other southern restaurants, with a touch of sweetness, but still wonderful thanks to the homemade sausage. The Crawfish Pie topped with cheese sauce was a delightful surprise, unique and unexpected. Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely be returning!
WOW! How is this place in Circle Pines?! My wife and I went to Bistro La Roux for our anniversary and had an explosion, with Cajun Food and live New Orleans Jazz (Southside Aces recommend!) Then drove home for 15 minutes. Crazy! Service was also fantastic. Great beers on tap and great atmosphere (go for live music on Friday night).
Last night was our first time to Bistro La Roux. My husband travels to NOLA for work (and I occasionally go with him , and we were craving some of the sinfully delicious New Orleans fare. Bistro La Roux did not disappoint! Our waitress, Sandy, was happy to give her suggestions (thank you! . We ended up with a oyster po' boy, Boo fries (think poutine-like fries , seafood gumbo (half order , and the olives. My husband and I like to share our meals, so we get a little bit of everything The food was delivered very quickly (almost shocking how quickly it came , and looked very appealing. The taste was fantastic! Po' boy had fantastic flavor, wonderful combination of that deep fried oyster with the fresh veggies on that french bread. Boo fries had a savory beef gravy and not too salty (as I've had at other restaurants . The seafood gumbo, oh the gumbo, delicious little shrimp and okra with just the right amount of rice on top...I chose to to get the french bread and was so happy with my choice. The french bread had the perfect amount of crustiness to the outside with that soft, chewy inside. Being a big fan of olives of all flavors, perfect choice (they are NOT pitted for those not use to it, so don't chip a tooth! . Sandy was very attentive throughout our meal, ensuring that we were enjoying our first visit there. I also knew that we would be having dessert, so we ordered the bread pudding a la mode (on the side . What a perfect ending to a delicious meal! I got so excited I forgot to take a picture of it! I would definitely recommend stopping by this modest treasure. We had live jazz music as well (Southside Aces . We will absolutely be back! Thanks for bringing a little NOLA to the north!
