Mitchell's Steakhouse Columbus Downtown

When dining in an upscale restaurant you expect high quality food. While the food was not bad, it was very average. The steaks I would compare to Texas Roadhouse. The sides were good. Overall for the amount of money one pays you’d expect a better flavor and quality of the menu items.

Not the best service. Asked for loaded potatoes received regular. She just said “sorry” in an “oh well” kind of way. Banana cream pie was dry. She never asked how it was. Everything else was good. Loved our cocktails. No mention at all of our special occasion.

It was our first time there and it amazing and great service. The waitress did awesome! Very friendly and welcoming. The table look great for our Valentine’s and my wife birthday dinner. We would come back again. It was very nice to.

The $95 seafood tower was a disappointment. The oysters were great, but the lobster tail and crab were pathetic and rubbery. The shrimp was very small. The wedge salad was wilted and no cracked pepper was offered (took a minutes to realize small grinder was on the table. The martini was warm and didn’t taste right. We ordered 2 7 oz. Filets medium rare. One was perfect and the other was thin and overcooked. Overall, not a good experience for the money charged and Mitchell’s reputation.

We were seated in a booth and the room is very interestingly decorated with towering ceiling arches with federalism design and 1980’s contemporary art work hung opposite with large round lights hung from beams. Very cool. The food was accomplished cooked to order, the waitress was short and uninterested in serving us. I was trying to answer her question of temperature and translating English to French (my wife). And the waitress said she be back? I said I am not finished ordering? She showed no interest or knowledge of menu, and walk away as I was ordering a bottle of wine. She had to come back to confirm. Very weird. The hostess and food runner was exceptional. My wife is black French woman, we are an interracial couple. I don’t know but it felt odd. The wine was very good. Thank you.
