Salt Water Grill - COROLLA

Really enjoyed the crab cake, beautiful lakes on them. Husband had the shrimps and grits and that was excellent. Strawberry salad very nice. The lime cake was really good, not too sweet.

Excellent food. A variety of choices. Not cheap but reasonable. Shrimp and grits was very good as were oysters and crab cake. Waiter was helpful and attentive.

Great dinner! Party of 4. Shrimp grits, rack of ribs, crab cakes, fish chips all were outstanding! Knowledgeable server. Fast service. Looking forward to returning SOON.

Came here on a night that no other restaurants could seat our family of over 10. We were a little weary because of the store-front but it is true that you cannot judge a book by its cover. Our server was quick and nice. Strongly recommend the seafood pasta, it was a table favorite. Many got burgers/sandwiches and reported they were alright. The drink selection was very nice and the bartender was fast. We were in and out of the restaurant in less than an hour and a half, which is rare for our large party.

We wanted to drive up the north end of the Outer Banks on this trip, to Duck and Corolla. We picked out Crafty Cow for lunch but after 20 minutes of trying to locate it (not easy to find), we learned it was closed for the season. It is in a kind of mall, so we walked around and found Salt Water Grill. Your dining choices are at risk, later in the season. We learned that Salt Water Grill was closing the next day also. I don't really think it influenced our experience, though since all we wanted was a burger. I rarely notice décor, but the place is unnecessarily dark. It is just not what you associate with a beach place. It is not inviting. We had an OK burger. It was a preformed patty, probably 1/3 lb. It had a lot of char-grill flavor and was salted well. I had cheese, lettuce and tomato. The sweet potato fries were normal, Ms T always likes them. The slaw was naked. It may have had some oil on it. This was strange. Three stars is generous for our experience, but I know we did not really test the menu very well and in season, for a dinner it is probably fine. The burger just seemed institutional.
