Well, Sandwich City’s modest prices for their homemade sandwiches range between $5.95 and $6.95. Considering what you get—a sandwich, your choice of potato or macaroni salad, and a pickle slice—it’s quite a bargain. The fact that I’ve spent around $714 on egg salad sandwiches alone speaks volumes. But don't just take my word for it; a visit to the shop will provide a stress-free experience, with friendly staff and a quieter atmosphere compared to most sandwich shops. The menu features sandwiches that you might expect if your mother had a culinary background and a flair for creativity with two slices of bread. Many of the creations are named after famous streets in Covina, making you feel like you've truly arrived in the heart of the city. For instance, the “Lark Ellen Avenue” sandwich is essentially a Waldorf salad tucked between two slices of bread. Then there's the “Hollenbeck Avenue” sandwich, which includes roast beef, creamy horseradish, cheddar cheese with mayo, lettuce, and tomatoes. For those seeking healthier options, Sandwich City also offers a variety of salads, all within the same price range. Many salads feature different combinations of fruits, vegetables, and meats, all crafted with the hope of satisfying even the pickiest eaters. And for dessert, I highly recommend the banana pudding. If you haven’t filled up on sandwiches, this delightful treat, served with Nilla wafers, whipped cream, and almonds, is sure to round off your lunch perfectly. Sandwich City is located at 117 N. Citrus Ave., Covina. They are open seven days a week. For information or delivery, you can call (626) 966-7363.
