This will be the most straightforward review I have written. I have visited this restaurant multiple times and it consistently offers a mix of good and bad experiences.
The restaurant offered a variety of specials, but upon ordering, they took longer than expected to prepare the food. Additionally, the staff seemed unorganized when it came to notifying customers that their orders were ready, as they only called out names instead of delivering the food to tables.
DiCristina's in Covington is sort of a local tradition, although we had not visited before today for lunch. It was quite busy, but we were seated quickly and service was friendly and efficient. Our tea glasses were never allowed to be empty. Decor is tasteful, understated, and traditionally contemporary. We had the onion rings appetizer; I had the spaghetti and meatballs with side Caesar salad and my wife had a half muffuletta . Although my garlic toast was a little stale, everything else was excellent. My wife said her muffuletta was one of the best she's ever had. If you visit make certain you come hungry, because portions are huge! We're pleased to recommend DiCristina's in Covington.
My husband found the daily specials at DiChristina's online and saw that a softshell crab Poboy was featured. We went for lunch and this Poboy had too big softshell crabs on it. He said it was amazing and fried perfectly. And he is very picky. I was not so hungry so I ordered an appetizer which was also a daily special. I got the fried green tomatoes with a crab sauce. I asked for the sauce on the side and they gave me a full cup of the sauce, which was creamy and rich with lots of crab meat, although a tiny bit too salty. The tomatoes were fried perfectly and very crispy on the outside was a stack of at least five or six tomato slices and it was very filling even though I shared some of it with my hubby I hadn't been there in a long time, but we will be going back soon, the baked macaroni with gravy!
