Black Salt Cafe - CRAWFORD BAY

We have driven by this restauramt any times and never stopped because the exterior is a bit "unique". Thus time we were looking at Trip Advisor and found it is the top rated restaurant in Crawford Bay so we tried it out. The interior is also quite unique but comfortable and friendly. The food is great and it was very busy. Looks like it is the place the locals eat at.

Super friendly staff, really great baked goods. Excellent coffee. A fantastic little stop for a break!

Really nice space with local art, lots of greenery, etc. Food is great, as are drinks with featured BC craft beer and yummy/refreshing cocktails.

We asked at the Tourist Information office in Creston for good places to eat, and they suggested The Black Salt Cafe. We were very impressed with the food. I ordered the salmon wrap, and my husband ordered the bratwurst and sourkraute (sic?) sandwich. . What a great little lunch on the funky little patio we had. We will definitely be back the next time we are in the Kootenays.

I recently ate at this restaurant with my mother, sister and sister-in-law. I had been there before but only for cold drinks. We were really impressed with the variety of menu options. Many of them were items that we hadn't heard of before. But all the items seemed to be very creative combinations of locally available ingredients. My sister-in-law had the sirloin burger and found it very tasty. It was a large item which would make it appropriate for large appetites. My mom and sister had the crab croissant which was delicious. I had the small egg panini and found it delicious as well. It was the perfect size portion for me as I wasn't overly hungry. I also enjoyed the latte that I had with my meal.We really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere created by the variety of plants in pots placed around the patio. The patio has the potential to be somewhat noisy because the restaurant is right beside a highway (Highway 3A) but the plants and fence helped create a very peaceful atmosphere. The service was appropriately attentive. We were wishing we had had room for desserts because the items in the dessert case looked amazing.
