Putnam Lodge - Cross City

Nice hotel with lots of charm? how people work there. It's nice to hear you tell the story of the hotel. She stayed a night leading to our next destination. Also enjoyed the great food!

I?ve been to the restaurant several times in the past. This restaurant is the best I?ve been to in several years. I had a five course meal that was as good if not the best I?ve ever had! Even the coffee was outstanding! Can?t wait to return after I lose these pounds.

We arrived and were greeted by a girl that had no idea what she was doing. She called the owner to try to help us. Restaurant was closed, owners were out to dinner. We kind-of checked in, with the assumption that we would fully check in when we returned. We went to watch the sunset on the gulf coast. When we came back, we could not get back into the building with our cards, that were given to us. We buzzed and the owner came down to basically degrade us because the cards always work . He could not get them to work, but told us that any magnetic strip would work...so he tried our drivers license... He was wrong. We should have took him up on his $100 bet. You have no control over the ac, or heat, you have no access to outside past a certain hour (unless you block the door), it is beautiful but not worth the $179.00 for 1 night that we paid on a weekday!!!! There are still cockroaches (even with the blue light that 's supposed to do something), and the owner guy is not a nice person. There are some lovely cats all over the property, and a very nice dog inside. It 's up to you, but we 'll never be back. The owners attitude was enough and with the price. No thanks.

Putnam Lodge was a step back in time with a beautiful hand stained pecky cypress wood lobby and fire place. Cypress wood continues to the large dining area and inviting bar. The food and service was excellent and the staff friendly and attentive. We also had the pleasure of meeting Ed and Bev, the owners. Great people who are keeping a beautiful old in alive! We would definitely visit again!

This hotel has an ole style charm that welcomes you. Reasonably priced and Great Service. We flew into cross city AP after hours and Ed came and picked us up and back the next morning. I recommend this hotel to anyone needing a room for the night or for the week. Best in town.
