Putnam Lodge - Cross City

I visited this historic lodge for dinner on my birthday, and it was an excellent choice! I can't believe we waited over a year to stop by. I began with the calamari as an appetizer, followed by the 6oz filet with shrimp (surf and turf). My wife had fried clams for her appetizer and the chicken Alfredo as her main dish. Everything was prepared perfectly to our liking. We loved the atmosphere, and the staff was outstanding. It’s been a long time since we had such a wonderful experience. I highly recommend stopping here for camping, a room, drinks, or dinner. The food and drinks were simply awesome!

The restaurant is very pleasant, comfortable, quiet, and clean. I thoroughly enjoyed the overall ambiance. It was a great experience, and I would highly recommend this place. Rooms: 5, Service: 5, Location: 5.

This place is simply fantastic! Be sure to visit on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. The steak and shrimp were absolutely delicious. From the moment you step through the front door, the attention to detail will transport you back to the early 1900s. I can't wait to return and indulge in this wonderful experience again soon. The food and drinks were excellent, and I appreciated the selection of Sam Adams beer—great choice! Overall, I would give it 5 stars.

The hotel was well kept, but bed and breakfast was misleading. It's not a Cafe but a small kitchen area that has a limited supply of frozen sandwiches, yogurt and coffee. Room had funky step from bathroom to bedroom. The bathroom door and entry door where hitting each other, so you had to remember to close it or other peson couldnt get back in room. The refrigerator in room wasn't on and didn't notice so our medicine and food were bad when we opened in morning. This was very upsetting. If you get a garden room, bring earplugs, the noise from the wildlife woke me several times. The restaurant was rustic/romantic. We sat in a little room with big cozy chairs and a very uncomfortable table. My husband got the Osso buco, which was perfect. I ordered the crabcakes, but they were out. Had to wait a very long time for the server to return to retake my order. Ended up getting steak tips. Ordered blue got medium with one slightly medium rare and tough. Since it was late and my husband won't eat if I returned it, I ate what wasn't shoe leather and the stray cats outside hotel got an expensive meal. Grounds were kept, but shrubbery needs a little more attention. The pond was a little gross and slimy. Slightly over-priced but comfortable. If the breakfast was even a limited fresh buffet style and the restaurant got tweeked, be a rave review.
