Bidra med feedbackPie and mash is a cockney comfort eating found in east london. it is served with a green-coloured petersil sauce known as liqueur. besides cakes and mash, they also find split aale on the menu most pie and mash shops are in east london, so it was an surprise to discover cockney’s of croydon in croydon, which served it all with split aalen. in the inner I loved the style of this place with church benches, flags and their own newly marked jack daniel whisky bottles that contain vinegar. without further ado, I ordered the cake and the mash with a cup of tea. they were really nice to give me a side of jelly without aale to try the cake was crispy with chop meat in the middle compliment...read more
Best pie ‘n’ mash in london. traditional feeling and the pukka of eating. double double with a side of aales and a cup of rosie lee goes a tasty and it is very friendly on her bag! well recommended.
I just wanted to add a PS to my last review, as the times on their board outside the shop don't match their actual opening hours or those given when you google them (at the moment, Google are saying Cockneys is open until 3 pm, whereas they shut at 2. So, as far as I understand it, they are shut Sundays and Mondays and the rest of the week they are open from 10 am to 2 pm (i.e. only for 4 hours). We went to visit them yesterday around 3 pm and, disappointingly, found them shut. I will write another review when we have actually visited but hope this helps people with regard to the opening hours.
Today, I received a missed call from this restaurant and was shocked by the rude way I was spoken to when I returned the call. The man I spoke to was extremely abrupt and seemed to be having a midlife crisis. He insisted that their phone line was for incoming calls only, even though I could clearly see the call on my phone. I don't understand why they called me, especially since I live in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
I took my girlfriend to this restaurant for the first time and she really enjoyed the pie and mash. Some places cater just to tourists but this restaurant is the real deal, with delicious food and lots of friendly conversation with the owner.
