Bidra med feedbackGood atmosphere and service. The roast was good but unfortunately the gravy was watery vegetable gravy which really makes a difference to a good roast dinner. If it wasn’t for the bad gravy I would of loved to have gone back as it was a lovely pub.
Lovely warm atmosphere, delicious pork ribeye and lamb roulade. Very yummy sticky toffee pudding with a special crisp on top. Friendly capable service. All at a price that didn’t break the bank. I’ve been before and will go again.
Been here lots of times and yes its pricier than most but generally its pretty good, staff pleasant and efficient and the food has never let us down. So it was shock to find out that they charge for fizzy water out the tap, small thing but when you have spent £100 or more on dining being hit with this is just not on and is pure profiteering. Its a matter of principal now, no where else makes this charge where we go. Sort it out Highwayman or lose a regular customer.
We booked dinner on a Sunday evening and weren't sure what to expect. The Highwayman was buzzing with people, the atmosphere was warm, happy, busy and generally the place to be! The food was delicious and we appreciated the good service too. Definitely recommend it!
A Sunday evening with friends and we had been regular patrons of The Highwayman for a long while. It has gradually declined in standards but an email showcasing their new menu brought us back. It didn’t bode well when we were told about all the mussing options from the menu including all green vegetable choices. The starters were ok but a mushroom dish with truffle was shockingly bad. It came with no truffle and was smothered with chopped hazelnuts. Now there were no nut allergy sufferers at the table but the dish made no mention of nuts. We queried it with the server Abs she said are you allergic and when the answer was no she shrugged and walked away. The entree dishes were equally poor, dry tasteless fish, heavy pie and two unpleasant chicken dishes. The manageress was helpful and apologetic but for a local eaterie, the price charged is very high when the food is as poor as it is.
