Black Bear Diner - Danville

We hold our weekly BNI meeting in the back room. The facility works perfect for us and is reasonable. Our server Ray is amazing and takes care of us every week!

We had an amazing experience!!! our waiter scottie was so funny, patient, and kind!!!!!

Seated us but never came back to take our order. After 10 minutes we left and will not stop there again.

So I went here on Mother’s Day a couple days ago. Can I say I chose here because I really wanted a home cooked meal kinda feel without cooking or cleaning up. Essentially taking myself out for Mother’s Day. I was til black bear diner would be nice, however my experience with my food was not. The salad had brown in it and chunks of lettuce in blocks and not broken up. (Pictures included of all) in my nieces as well which was also the only thing she ordered. The kids meal chicken tenders were cooked over (or reheated) the fries looked as if they were also cooked over. I ordered pot roast, with mashed potatoes, and their Mac n cheese. The roast was dry and covered with way too much gravy. And the Mac n. Heese was served cold. I don’t want to complain, but I’m just saying maybe don’t go there if you’re expecting a good dinner. I mean it was Mother’s Day, if this is how they cook for a day like that what’s it like regularly. I will say the lady that cashed me out was really sweet and there was an employee that went around saying happy mothers to everyone that was really sweet, and I appreciated it. That’s why atmosphere a 3. But I’m disappointed that I took myself out for a special dinner with my kids and this is what I got.

My husband took our 7yo for a special daddy/son breakfast. Their food was delivered to the table, they had a few bites and then my son needed to go potty. In the time it took him to go potty and wash his hands they had cleared the table of all food and beverages. My son had eaten 1/4 of his pancake, their side of bacon was untouched and my husband had barely touched his omelet. The wait staff had not come by to check on them at all and their check for the cashier had not been delivered to the table. My husband went to the front of the restaurant and asked where their food had gone and he was informed that he should have found a member of the wait staff and let them know they where using the restroom before leaving the table. My husband then asked them to remake the order and they begrudgingly agreed. My son and husband went and sat back down, after a few minutes no beverages where brought and my son was now getting squirmy. My husband returned to the front and told them he needed to leave. They yelled back to the kitchen to cancel and they said they weren't even making it yet. They then made my husband pay for 1/2 the bill because according to the cashier they had eaten half the food. My husband just wanted to leave at this point. This was a slow Thursday morning with only about 5 tables in the restaurant. No one is expecting a lot from black bear but we've always considered it a fun place to take the kids for breakfast. We will not be coming back! Just want to put a warning out there for everyone make sure you flag down your wait staff and tell them you need to go potty or they will take your food and be fully unapologetic!
