The Barrel House - Dayton

I absolutely love the Barrel House! It's the perfect place to find beers and wines that aren't available anywhere else in Ohio. For instance, I was thrilled to discover my favorite beer from Oregon, as shown in the picture. The beer selection is extensive, featuring excellent options from nearly every style you can imagine, all within a charming and cozy space. Additionally, the service is consistently outstanding. While I usually prefer to explore my own choices, the bartenders are always eager to help if you have any questions. I highly recommend the Barrel House!

The lighting is far too bright, and the climate control is overly efficient, leaving the air crisp and dry. They were playing smooth instrumental versions of Wu-Tang Clan songs, which added to the absurdity of the moment. As I sat in a Victorian tufted chair, feeling edgy and slightly buzzed from the 7.5% beer they served, a wave of shame washed over me. This place feels wrong – like being in a library where you shouldn’t be drinking. My advice? Leave. Run away and don’t look back. Seek out somewhere dark, damp, and rundown, a place where you can confront the discomfort and despair you feel about the world instead of trying to drink it away.
