Historic Bullock - Deadwood

Very charming, decorated to match the time period of this haunted hotel. The staff were all smiling and wonderful to be around, even the waitress in restaurant... just loved her!Nearby activities: Very close to everythingSafety: Felt very safe and comfortableWalkability: Can walk up and down the street to many other placesFood drinks: The food and drinks are very reasonable priced and taste good too

My girlfriend and I called Bullock Hotel direct, avoiding any 3rd party reservation, on July 16, 2023 to reserve a room. She spoke with a hotel employee who stated 5 rooms were available that day. Some of our options were a king bed room, a double queen bed room and a single full bed room. We booked the double queen room and proceeded to complete the reservation by giving all of the information required for the reservation. The employee guaranteed our room would be ready for a late check-in. We arrived around 8:00 PM to check-in after a long day of driving. As we entered the room we found it to be a very small room with only a full size bed. We immediately called the front desk to inform them this wasn't the room we reserved or paid for. The lady at the desk (Shannon) told us there were no other rooms available and there was nothing she could do to get us the room we paid for. She also refused to adjust the price from a double queen to a single full size. Needless to say I was pissed off. I've never encountered a situation such as this with any other hotel. She expected us to be satisfied with a room we didn't reserve at a higher cost than it normally goes for. So, I refused the room, got a complete refund and sought out a different hotel, even though we were extremely tired from a long day driving. We contacted the Franklin Hotel and they were extremely considerate and accommodating. The staff there was amazing! I can easily rate them a 5 star. If you ever go to Deadwood, SD avoid the Bullock Hotel at all costs. A very sub-par hotel.

I recently stayed at Historic Bullock Hotel and had an incredibly disappointing experience. Upon arrival, we discovered that the toilet in our room was not functioning properly. Despite notifying the hotel staff immediately, they failed to take any action to address the issue. It was already late in the evening, leaving us with no choice but to use the bathroom facilities in the lobby.Not only was this inconvenience frustrating, but it also severely impacted the quality of our stay. We had paid for a room with a functional toilet, and it is completely unacceptable that the hotel failed to provide this basic amenity.In the morning, we approached the hotel management to discuss the situation and request a partial refund for the inconvenience caused. To our dismay, they outright refused to engage in any meaningful communication or offer any form of compensation. This lack of accountability and disregard for guest satisfaction is deeply disheartening.Moreover, the unresponsiveness and dismissive attitude of the staff throughout our stay only added to our disappointment. It is clear that customer service is not a priority for this establishment.I strongly advise potential guests to reconsider staying at Historic Bullock Hotel. The lack of attention to maintenance issues, combined with the unprofessional and unhelpful staff, creates an incredibly unsatisfactory experience. I expected much better from a hotel of this caliber.I sincerely hope that the management of Historic Bullock Hotel takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements to avoid similar experiences in the future.

The hotel is exactly what you expect for a Deadwood hotel. Staff was friendly. Rooms were spacious(we had two adjoining rooms so maybe that's why). One of the beds was lumpy and there weren't enough outlets. All in all, a good experienceWalkability: Everything is walkable in Deadwood

My boyfriend and I went down to the below bar called Seth’s Cellar, and had the best experience ever. Our bartenders were Colton and Austin and they were so nice, and made the experience amazing. We definitely will be visiting there first next time we’re in Deadwood again!Service: 5/5
