Bidra med feedbackBeen here three times. Always ordered the nasi goreng, chicken satay. I've tried lakhsa and mee goreng before. Nice place very casual. No fuss at all, friendly staff. Food is good. Very affordable.
We tried the nasi goreng and the chicken curry with roti, and it was all amazing! Also very affordable.
The Malay in at Dee Why served authentic Malay dishes at low low prices. I reviewed it 18 months ago and gave it 5 stars. Now it's gone. The signs are still there advising opening hours and there are take away menus on the locked shutter but ...the business has closed. Such a shame the owners didn't have the courtesy to put up a sign that they were closing but it looks as if they have just walked out. Phone disconnected. Everybody loses but a terrible way to run a business. I know they had opened another café I think in the East. I wish them well and hope they treat their customers better than they have treated us at Dee Why.
Went here recently and I can only think this place must have changed hands - no familiar faces and the food is different. The Chicken Laksa was dreadful - absolutely no flavour or spice - was insipid and seemed watery. It also had all this carrot and celery in it - see photo. I added some sambal paste but it did not help much. Sorry, but you can't just throw anything into a dish and think consumers will just accept anything. For $12 is was a rip-off.Compare this to Laksa you get at Hawker in the city (Sussex st) - same people that run Mamak. They also charge $12 for a Laksa - and the 2 dishes could not be so contrasting. Really disappointing.
Look, if you've never tried good Malay food then I can see why some reviewers might find this interesting. However just know that you can do MUCH better. Even the chain "Papa Rich" popping up now in shopping centers has vastly superior curry. Tasty and rich. The chicken curry here is weak and thin.Very friendly staff. The roti were good.
