Indonesio Holandes 43 - Denia

We first (and last ate here 5 years ago. Being of Dutch-Indonesian descent the name of this restaurant intrigued me, so we ate here to try it out. The pictures in the various posts do not lie, the food looks like this. To our surprise the staff or owners spoke no Dutch (which we expected based on the name of the restaurant? or even English, but that was not a disqualifying matter. The staff is very friendly and the terrace has a nice ambiance to sit at. The food however is very disappointing. It is nowhere near the refinement of the Dutch-Indonesian cuisine that I am used to (both home cooked or from a restaurant . The meat we had was dry, the seasoning is not what it should be (when you expect this cuisine , so quite a let down. Add to that the price they charge you for this food, it is too high. I don't mind paying more for food (it is quite expensive here in the Netherlands but I expect the quality to match. The positive reviews I see here are from Spanish people, so they might not have the reference I have. If you're Dutch, don't bother going to this place for a Dutch-Indonesian fix...

Very strange place. Requested the vegetarian tasting menu as advertised outside, to be told that this had to be ordered 24 hours in advance! Ok then, can you just serve me some rice, salads and anything veggie that you do have, whilst my partner enjoys the regular menu? Nope, no can do, not the slightest interest in accommodating the challenging request of not being served meat. Left without actually eating anything, and never been back... So who knows, perhaps the food is actually awesome?

Smelly restaurant, tasteless dishes, bad service and expensive (for what you get).. We where the only 2 guests restaurant is on it 's way 'out ' and overcharging the suckers (as us) walking in . NEVER AGAIN !!

As always, we are treated with luxury. the food is very good and they want to repeat many times of rice. all the dishes are very good, the meats, the chickens, the moraning pricks. all! the advocat dessert the best! every year we come for dinner a couple of times

The restaurant is beautiful, especially that wonderful interior terrace. the food and the gift too big. We'll be back, thanks!
