Bidra med feedbackI was delighted to see a Beth Marie's Ice Cream cooler stocked with half-pints, bars, and other treats. I noticed a Cupcake flavor as I was leaving and immediately regretted that we had already settled the bill and were on our way to our next destination. We’ve ordered takeout from here a couple of times, and in the past, we’ve dined in several times, but this was my first experience eating in-house. It gave me the chance to see that the place is much larger and has more to offer than I anticipated. The prices are reasonable, portions are generous, and the food is decent. The menu provides a good mix of BBQ and German cuisine to choose from. While none of the dishes we've tried are mind-blowing, they are all quite solid, making for a good value considering both price and portion size. Since it is budget-friendly, the presentation is reminiscent of a cafeteria, but it’s not detrimental. The flavors in the food are enjoyable, but I wouldn’t recommend it for those with high culinary standards. It’s perfect for a quick bite if you manage your expectations. The burger was tasty, the fries were okay but a bit bland, and the mac and cheese was flavorful, though slightly watery. The BBQ chicken was very enjoyable, although it didn't look particularly impressive. The chopped beef was decent, but appeared more like sloppy joe meat, so I’d consider ordering it sliced next time. Overall, it’s an excellent spot for a budget-friendly and satisfying lunch, with food quality surpassing what the prices suggest. I usually prefer not to have BBQ sauce slathered on my food, opting instead for it on the side to dip in. I believe that good BBQ doesn’t really need sauce, but wow, this sauce was something special! It strikes a great balance—not too vinegary or sweet—and complements all the meats beautifully. Kudos on the sauce! This is a cool little spot where you can discover a variety of unique items while enjoying a decent meal. I’d rate the food at about 3.5 stars, but the friendly service and fun offerings elevate the overall experience to a solid 4 stars.
I tried the German sausage and sauerkraut, both of which were authentic and delicious. While it wasn’t the same recipe I grew up with in the Mennonite communities of South Central Kansas, it had a comparable quality and texture. The sauerkraut even had bits of bacon mixed in, which was a nice touch. We will definitely be returning to sample more menu items. The deli counter was bustling, making this place a true neighborhood treasure.
I used to really enjoy visiting this restaurant on Fridays and Saturdays for their All You Can Eat Ribs for just $9.99, which came with two sides and toast. However, they've recently switched to a rack-based ordering system. The new specials on Friday and Saturday are: 1/2 lb of ribs, 2 sides, and toast for $5.95; 1 lb of ribs, 2 sides, and toast for $10.95; and a whole rack of ribs, 2 sides, and toast for $15.95. While this isn't as great of a deal as before, it's still decent. I think I’ll be more inclined to come here in the future for some of my other favorites, like a Reuben or a cheesesteak, rather than the rib special. They also have a daily food item special that’s posted on a board by the entrance. Additionally, this location hosts periodic wine and beer tastings that are definitely worth attending. They offer a wide selection of beer, wine, and bottled sodas as well. Both dining areas have TVs that usually show local sports games if any are on.
Rest in peace, Metzler's on Londonderry. I'll catch you all at the University store. Please save me some German potato salad!
I absolutely love this place! It’s a great combination of a convenience store and a restaurant. They offer a solid selection of beer and wine. On Fridays and Saturdays, you can enjoy all-you-can-eat ribs for just $10, which is definitely a great deal. They also have daily specials. Plus, the staff is very friendly!
