Bidra med feedbackI had lunch with my coworkers at this restaurant. They really enjoy the salads here, but I'm not a big salad fan, so I opted for a fish dish instead. I had the fried trout, which came with a tomato and cucumber salad, rice pilaf, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and a tomato basil vinaigrette. The trout was well cooked and seasoned, and very tasty. However, I didn't care for the tomato basil vinaigrette and wished I had gotten the lemon butter instead. The vegetables were a bit soggy, so I didn't eat them, and the rice pilaf wasn't very flavorful. I enjoyed most of the salad but left out the beet and olives. Two of my coworkers had the crispy chicken salad, which looked good but the chicken tenders were fried too long and ended up being hard. Overall, it was an average lunch experience. I would consider coming back for the trout, but I would need to manage my expectations and be aware of the restaurant's shortcomings.
Came at 1:00pm on a Wednesday, and got seated right away. Layout is open and looks clean. Good aroma. We had the Hot Philly and the Greek burger. Very, very flavorful and perfectly seasoned. The fries were the perfect size and crispy. Serve was very accommodating. The FIFA match was on the TV, Brazil leading.
Hubby and I came here for dinner before heading downtown to check out a performance at dcpa. I wanted something that would be quick, but a little more upscale than fast casual as we were dressed to the nines for our theater outing. We were seated immediately and offered options as far as where we sat, and on the table type, which I like. I prefer a booth and we were quickly accommodated. The gentleman who seated is, ironically named Pete, ended up being our waiter as well. He joked that our booth was the VIP section and immediately welcomed us. He told us about the specials and then he gave us some time to look over the menu. Like any of the Pete 's franchises, they had a wide and varied selection which includes their amazing gyros, my favorite! This is only my second visit to Pete 's Greektown Cafe, but I am a huge fan of Pete in general. We frequently go to Pete 's Kitchen, and my dad loves Pete 's gyros, so we frequent that location as well. This is definitely the highest end of the lot, but it still has a very Diner type feel. They also have a lounge in the back, which I regret not visiting as it seemed full of lively regulars. This location offers some more high dollar options than the others. The special of the evening was steak and shrimp, and we were not told how much it cost. That 's a sure sign that is not cheap! Some of the salads offered were upwards of $17. The prices on the platters are actually comprable to the same dishes at Pete 's Kitchen. You 're looking at about $12 for the dinner. But it comes with soup or salad, a side potato of your choice, and some veggies. The default potato is their Greek potato which is two long slices of boiled potatoes topped with lemon butter and spices. Very good, although my husband did say he liked my French fries better. I could not decide between soup and salad, so I chose both. The salad comes out with their vinaigrette house dressing, but I opted for blue cheese. When the salads came out, the food Runner placed my husband 's in front of him, and then placed mine in front of me, commenting one house salad, dry . The blue cheese dressing came on the side. There was a tiny little bit of congealed grease on top of my portion of dressing. But I scraped it off and the dressing itself was very tasty, obviously homemade. The reason that I couldn 't turn down the French onion soup was that Pete made it sound so good. Topped with a crouton and melted provolone cheese, I was enticed. The crouton was actually just a round slice of bread placed on top of the cup. The shape and texture of the bread reminded me of one of those uncrustable peanut butter and jelly sandwiches from Smuckers. I ended up scraping it off because it was just soggy bread. The melted provolone was delicious, but quite obviously just a slice of provolone thrown on top of the soup. The French onion broth was delish. For the main course, I went with the Gyro platter and hubs went with the Souvlaki platter. The vegetables that came out with it were obviously of the Frozen variety, kind of hard to miss the crinkle cut carrots. But they were still delicious! Perfectly prepared as far as a frozen veggie can go. As usual I had leftovers, although my husband finished his supper with no problem! We both agree it was definitely an ample portion for the price. It doesn 't seem that alcoholic drinks are available on the diner side, which I wish I had known ahead of time. I assume that you could order food on the lounge side and also have drinks, which I will probably opt for in the future. Pete was what really made this visit over the top. Feel bad for knocking off a star, but it was kind of necessary due to the Soggy bread and congealed dressing. Pete, the waiter not the owner, really went out of his way to make us feel welcome. He truly treated us like VIPs. When he noticed us taking a selfie at the table, he offered to get us some long distance shots and took our camera all the way behind the service counter to get some nice photos of us. He was at our beck and call and kept the beverages full and the table cleared. Hopefully he gets a raise out of this review :
This is the restaurant that was supported by lottery winnings 1 of Pete Kontos cooks won the lottery 6 Million I think and he turned most of the money over to Pete who made him a partner the food is barely edible and the restaurant a former Sambos chain restaurant , I do not care for the greasy food that is served I will have cold tea or hot tea in the winter time this restaurant needs a good scrubbing too .
This is my favorite greek restaurant in the Denver area. My boyfriend and I regularly frequent this establishment and choose to sit at one of the window seats (there is some great people watching at the bus stop right outside the window). Their avgolemono soup is DELICIOUS, seriously...if I could order it by the quart I would. I usually only order the Greek sampler platter and split it, but everything on it is amazing. Their pitas are the authentic honey recipe ones, and their tzatziki is good enough to eat with a spoon! If you find yourself hungry before heading downtown or to the zoo make this your food stop...it won't disappoint!
