California Burrito - Des Moines

I really enjoy the food from this place overall. With Tacofest returning, it might become my go-to spot for a while. The burritos are always large and satisfying, and the drinks are also quite substantial and refreshing.

There always seems to be something lacking or not quite right about this place. Where are the condiments? It just doesn’t make sense. I understand it's a 24-hour spot, but the consistency is all over the place. The fries are either soggy or overcooked, and the same goes for the Carne Asada Fries. When it’s good, it’s really good, but when it’s not, it feels like a rip-off. The churro was decent, but there's definitely room for improvement.

I was really disappointed! The guacamole chips were incredibly soggy. The chiles rellenos were greasy, and the center was cold—the pepper was practically raw. To make matters worse, they forgot my salsa. I ended up throwing the whole order away. Unbelievable!

The Shrimp Burrito was amazing, just as good as I remember over 5 years ago as well as the Fresh Mexican Horchata. Ive not had a bad experience here and I cant wait to get the Carne Asada Fries next.

Extremely affordable but you get what you pay for. The best thing was easily their Fresh Mexican Horchata but it apos;s on the sweeter side, very cinnamon heavy, and missing some creaminess. Bean Cheese Burrito was a great size but tasteless. Carne Asada Soft Tacos was substantial, had a lot of toppings, and the meat had a tender texture, but lacked any grilled flavor. The Cheese. Quesadilla portion and tortilla were decent but it was ultimately dry and again, lacked flavor. Generally inoffensive but completely mid.
