Bidra med feedbackI used to love and admire this restaurant for the way it serves the community with food. However, recently the quality has become inconsistent and it has become a serious issue. During my last visit, instead of politely declining my order, they served me burnt food. I would have preferred them to say that a dish wasn't available rather than serving it in a poorly prepared state. I have never experienced burnt food to this extent before, specifically their Jollof rice, which I found incredibly disrespectful.
This restaurant is hands down some of the best food I have ever tasted. Period! I believe I have discovered my new favorite dining spot. I tried the curried goat, chicken, and jollof rice and will absolutely be returning. I am counting down the days until they become the "West African version of Chipotle"! The meal was fresh, perfectly balanced in spice and sweetness, and I would give it a perfect 10/10. The vegan banana pudding and bottled drink were also a hit with my friend who has dietary restrictions.
There are no waiters serving tables at this restaurant. Customers must order from the counter using kiosks and pick up their food from the counter as well. There is limited interaction with the staff. I ordered the big boneless chicken with jerk sauce and spice, as well as a regular boneless chicken with mango curry. I also had lemon pineapple juice, watermelon pineapple ginger juice, spicy bean stew with turmeric rice, and truffle oil green. The total cost was $67.31. The watermelon juice was fresh and refreshing, and the bean and rice dish was aromatic and delicious. The music playing was enjoyable, with a few songs by Khadja Nin. The truffle greens were decent, and the crickets were crispy but not a favorite. The chicken and mango curry were both okay, with the meats being a bit dry and overcooked. Overall, the food was flavorful and there was a lack of blandness. The atmosphere felt like a casual café where customers are left to their own devices.
I have a custom order of tumeric rice, lemon pfeffer ruck huhn (Bone-in), with yam onepot truffle greens as side. everything tasted delicious. I had never had Yam stew like that before; it is a great savory side honestly a meal that I would get from myself. I think all green should be truffle green. some cons I have that there is no menu above the counter, so customers need to watch the menu online, while in line. Also, although I have ordered bone-in chicken, I did not expect some of the tiny bones. Now I know that I can be careful when chewing or be boneless next time. but I think this place should do better to prevent the droves that prevent suffocation.? overall, quite great eating(! edit: also mention: to use the rest room, they need to ask a worker to unlock it at the switch
Love Yum Village. But not today. My large order of Truffle Greens don't look the part. Barely half full. Plus entire food order wasn't hot.Called the restaurant (twice). 1st person I spoke to put me on hold after I asked about the greens then call dropped. Called back, got another person, who said I was talking to a manager. Tried asking again about amount of greens for large size, and person hung up.Oh well, maybe they're too busy to troubleshoot customer inquiries about their food quality and portions.Sigh ?
