Horrible food. (the absolute worst) wait time was rediculous, staff was nice, safe was cool, should have just stayed home can't believe we spent that much for burnt, wet and soggy absolutely disgusting food that wasn't even what it was supposed to be. I would have been fired. I'm kind of outraged how bad it was and the disappointment. Especially after traveling to check it out. Won't be going there any time soon again. We could have saved a ton of money on what we ordered if we just made it at home too. Would have been way better. Super overpriced. Do they forget we all shop? My wife is still trying not to puke it up on the way home. Many may think this is an over exaggerated comment but this is by far the worst place that we have ever ate at. It's horrible!! Some of their food was like food was sitting for hrs and they just tossed it in a microwave. We try to be nice and we were to their faces... Instead of saying how we truly felt but it needs to be said. It was nasty.
Heading home from fishing at Moosehead and wanted to try small business food for lunch. I found Charlie 's and called at 10:54am to order a deluxe burger fry to go. IJust getting in the place was interesting. The place is small but very nice with some obvious cool history!Two young females working the front. I paid the blonde girl and she said they just turned on the frier so it 'll be a few minutes (I never mind waiting, plus I got there earlier than expected). The blonde goes out back leaving the red haired girl out front. Being the first time there I immediately noticed they weren 't trained very well in the social aspect of the service industry, but, they were young, so...The blonde comes out and hands me my container of food without offering napkins or asking if I 'd like any sides (like ketchup) for my fries or burger so I asked her for those things. My bill was just over $15 for food and a couple bucks for a soda. I did leave about $6 for a tip as I always tip even if it 's take-out.As I leave I noticed it 's quite difficult to navigate the front two doors as each has handles on the opposite side and not much room between the doors. I couldn 't imagine trying to carry alot of food out. Not sure how long this place has been in business but the front doors should have been corrected immediately!Then, I drive away and try a couple fries. It 's obvious the cook didn 't wait for the friet oil to get heated up before dropping the fries! Soggy and disgusting! I ordered the burger medium and tasted ok at first, but after a few bites I realized the meat wasn 't cooked inside. So, for about $21 the A W Rootbeer was the best part of my meal. I ate 4 fries and 3 bites of the burger.After my first impression I recommend not offering food until the equipment is ready to cook, or have staff turn on a little earlier. Also, the two young hosts/servers/bartenders need ALOT if training in service industry! They seemed pleasant enough but were clearly green as far as service industry/ customer service.I doubt I 'll be back.Thanks
My husband and I and our friends, stopped into Charlie's for lunch on a Saturday. We were welcomed immediately and seated. The waitress promptly came to take drink orders. When she returned with our drinks and to take our meal order, we discovered she was the owner. When our meals came, they were delicious, and a generous portion too The drinks were delicious, as well as the food. We would definitely recommend Charlie's, cozy place, great food and service.
Great atmosphere, very friendly staff and great food. What more could you ask for? Plus a bonus is they have an old safe you're allowed to go into from like the late 1800's I believe.
