Piccolo Trattoria- Doylestown

As I arrived at the restaurant which is in a shopping center, it appeared to be a regular pizzeria from the outside. I’m not going to lie, I gave it my side eye. I walked in to a bar/pizzeria in the front. It was lively, the bar only had a couple available seats. The main dining room is just ahead as well as another room that’s used as a space for private functions. I was seated immediately in the main dining room which was pretty empty. The waiter, Andrew came over and begin serving immediately. He was awesome and provided food recommendations. I ordered this Cannellini bean soup that he suggested and it was phenomenal, the lobster ravioli special and a glass of reisling and my date had spaghetti and meatballs. Overall it was a good time, I had leftovers and it was even tastier the next day.

I had mad a reservation for my wife and When we got there I asked if we could have a booth and the gentleman seating us said that the booths are reserved for larger parties. We accepted this and was sat at a small and uncomfortable table which barely sat two. Within minutes two other booths opened and both sat a party of two, not larger as we were told. We would have waited. Although the food was good, the restaurant was noisy, the table was cramped and to make matters worse, the woman at the next table was nursing a baby no fault of hers) which made the evening very in enjoyable. We finished our entre and paid our bill we didn’t get any desert. We couldn’t wait to get out of there. Although we have enjoyed the Newtown restaurant we had decided to try Doylestown. Never again.

The server was rude and slammed down the bowl of Parmesan cheese when we asked her to bring us some extra. The server did not refill any of our drinks and we did not even get any refills of water. The food was so so, not like I remember eating at the Newtown, PA location. The chicken parmigiana was so so, asked for extra sauce for the spaghetti and very little was given. The vodka rigatoni was bland and nothing to it except huge chunks of tomatoes. Not impressed and will probably not go back unfortunately

Food was excellent and the portions were large. I have another meal with our leftovers. Will be back again!

All staff terrific cocktail not sure it had any alocohol in it bread tiramisu fantastic veal frangelica was pasta w some veal vs veal w side of pasta lasagna excellent N O I S Y (Saturday dinner I would go again but at a less popular time.
