Spirit House - Dunedin

The restaurant offers diners a great view of the sea, but the prices reflect this. There are limited vegan options available, and they can be hit or miss. The mango lassi is rich and thick, like the curry, but not overpowering. Despite the restaurant not being busy when we placed our order, the service was quite slow, almost prompting us to just pay for our drinks and skip ordering food. The server claimed that the curry was made to order, but it is actually made from a paste. Customers concerned about ingredients should double-check with the cook.

We drove on a beautiful and clear but icy cold and windy day to St. Clair and decided to have an early evening meal at the inn. It was a great decision. The interior was cozy and warm with a beautiful view of the beach. The vegan duck curry was amazing and I highly recommend the fried dumplings as a starter (they were crispy and tasted like a cross between samosas and dumplings). As we left, it seemed to be a popular place, so luckily we arrived early. I will definitely come back to Dunedin.

This restaurant has a great ambiance and offers some tasty vegan dishes. The vegan red duck curry is exceptional. It would be a nice spot for a date or a romantic dinner, but it can get crowded during busy times.

The exterior and lighting of the restaurant were very cool, and the interior decor with unique wallpaper was interesting and great. The customer service was decent, and the prices for food were reasonable. Despite the rainy night, the restaurant was very busy. We started with the crispy spring rolls and then had the Pad Thai Pork and Singapore Satay Chicken with rice as our main dishes. Both dishes were served quickly, and the portion sizes were very generous, allowing us to take home leftovers. The spring rolls were also very good. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and would definitely return to this restaurant.

I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. The food is delicious and the service is friendly. It is often quite busy for good reason. The design and atmosphere are great.
