Bidra med feedbackThis restaurant is a fantastic option if you're craving Indian cuisine without breaking the bank. Maharaja offers generously sized bowls of rice for sharing, ensuring you'll never run out. One of the highlights for me is their vegan choices. I tried the vegetable korma, which was delightful, featuring a wonderful mix of spices and creaminess. However, I did request it to be Indian spicy, and it ended up being quite mild, which was a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, it was still a tasty dish. Their naan breads are wonderful too; they're soft and easy to chew. I particularly enjoyed the garlic naan since I'm not a fan of plain bread. I also indulged in their gulab jamun, which I loved! They were soft and syrupy, and each bite released a bit of sweet syrup. The texture was spongy yet firm, and I could faintly taste the milk without any cheesy flavor. The sugary syrup was quite sweet, but I found it complemented the dumplings perfectly. Overall, I had a wonderful experience!
Excellent experience! Compared to the restaurants I just visited in Christchurch, Taj Mahal offers prices that are around 60% lower. Plus, if you order three mains for less than $40, you can substitute part of your rice for naan. I really appreciated that!
Had a nice lunch here today. Just got a basic butter chicken with naan and rice. Was amazed at how much naan I got and a decent amount of rice also. The butter chicken was very nice and for just $10 it’s astonishing value.
This is a small, unpretentious restaurant that is clearly a favorite among local Indian families. The service was a bit slow due to the crowd, but we were very happy with the food—it was full of delightful flavors. I really enjoyed the dishes, the prices were reasonable, and the portions of naan bread and rice at lunch were just right. This place has quickly become one of my favorites, and I would definitely return.
A very cozy and friendly place with tasty Indian foods; ranging from hot to mild spicy, you will eventually find what your empty stomach wants from you! They are so friendly and so supportive if you decide to hold an event there. Just keep in mind that it's not that big and quiet though.
