Alley Twenty Six - Durham

What an incredibly unique and fantastic restaurant! 80% of the seating is outdoors in a private alley, which is fitting given the name. Their drink selection, particularly the liqueurs, is impressive, just like our waiter, Collin. Despite working with one arm in a sling, he was as skilled and balanced as an octopus! His knowledge about the restaurant's offerings, drinks, and food was refreshing. He even made great menu recommendations and knew exactly how I wanted my bourbon - served with ice on the side. The sunset in the alley is stunning and makes the visit truly worthwhile. I recommend making a reservation, as it can be challenging to get a table without one. Don't miss out on this gem!

It's refreshing when local establishments meet expectations! I was impressed by both the quality of our drinks and the level of service, but I was truly blown away by the food. I ordered the burger on a whim, and it easily ranks among the best in an area with tough competition. Kudos to the kitchen!

To be honest Alley twenty six popped up on my radar before the James Beard, but that just solidified my desire to go. Spoiler, it did not disappoint. Tropical themed cocktails to start off, delicious. Pork katsu, perfectly cooked. If you ask for medium rare on your burger, expect a cool pink center because the kitchen knows what they're doing. They were out of pineapple upside down cake, but we were treated with a little taste from the bar as compensation for our perceived loss by Ben, our amazing server. All in all a lovely experience. Will be back again soon to try a completely different set of menu items (looking at you poke nachos... .

I had so much fun at Alley Twenty Six. A great place to go with friends or a date... Anniversary, etc... The vibe is awesome and upscale, the service was great and the food and drink were exquisite, creative and smart. As a New Yorker who transplanted to NC a decade ago, I felt like I was back in Greenwich Village and the cafe lifestyle of NYC. Downtown Durham is the real deal and Alley Twenty Six is its flagship.

The bartenders are incredible! The food was absolutely delicious, and the location is stunning, easily within walking distance to everything downtown!
