Bidra med feedbackIf you're looking for an authentic Village Pub that won't break the bank, be sure to check out the Talaton Inn located in the center of Talaton Village in rural East Devon. Just a quick 6-mile drive from Honiton, our lunch visit was lovely. We were greeted with a real fire in the hearth, delicious and reasonably priced pub food and drinks, a warm and friendly atmosphere, and a welcoming landlady, despite it being our first time there. The Talaton Inn is easy to find, located across from the Talaton Community Shop. On a rainy day, we appreciated the good-sized and surfaced car park. For just £6, we enjoyed a fantastic two-course set lunch which seemed to be popular with older customers. Our mains of lasagna and filled Yorkshire pudding were served hot and tasty, followed by generous portions of apple pie for just £4.95 each. Even with a ROBOTS Club lunch function happening at the same time, the service was efficient and attentive. The draught Stowford Press cider was excellent, although there was no draught bitter available during our visit. Talaton is fortunate to have a church, a shop, a good pub, and a parish hall, making it a charming village to visit. Note that the inn is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The pub also features a large skittle alley/function room. With such reasonable prices, regular visits to the Talaton Inn are definitely possible. We enjoyed our affordable lunch so much that we plan to book their Christmas menu in December, offering three courses for just £16.50.
The individual who took our call was rude and unhelpful, giving us no desire to visit the restaurant. He addressed me as "mate" and mentioned there were plenty of cancellations for the day, yet insisted we would have to sit separately and at the bar. This was not a suitable option with four children. With such a negative attitude, it's a wonder anyone chooses to dine there.
After reading mixed reviews, we decided to try this restaurant since it's close to home. It was definitely worth it! The menu was lovely, with a wide selection of very affordable options. The attentive owner gave us space to decide and quickly noticed when we were ready to order. We highly recommend the chicken caesar salad for those who love salads. The hunter's chicken also looked delicious. We will definitely be returning!
We had a very pleasant evening meal at this pub in the heart of Talaton where we had based ourselves for an autumn break. The menu had a good selection for all tastes and the helpings were very generous. We enjoyed chatting to the landlady, and hearing the locals enjoys their skittles game.
Poped in a few lunch time nice staff a few pints of otter amber and a few sandwichs nice lunch time visit.
