1770 House Inn - East Hampton

We had an excellent birthday dinner at the 1770 House restaurant. My wife had the bisque, I had the fluke tartare and we both had the salmon, all perfectly prepared and presented. This is a good choice for a special occasion.

My husband and I spent our mini honeymoon here during our wedding weekend, and we are definitely planning to return! The front desk staff was very friendly, accommodating, and a joy to work with while we made our room reservations. Our room was quiet, well-appointed, and extremely clean! We had a lovely view of a water fountain, and just a few steps from our door was the main house and restaurant. We dined inside the restaurant for dinner, and everything—the food, wine, and service—was excellent! In the morning, the restaurant offered a delightful breakfast spread. We arranged a wine tour, and the front desk kindly called our room to let us know when our limo arrived and wished us a fun day. I will definitely be recommending this place to our family and friends!

The service was absolutely terrible. I made a reservation two weeks in advance and called five days prior to confirm everything was set, as it was for my birthday. They informed me that outdoor seating was available but mentioned I needed to call back two days before—without specifying I should do so at 9 AM. When I called two days later at 3 PM, they told me there was no outdoor seating available. I had previously requested a note to ensure we were seated only in the garden. They were unhelpful and unable to accommodate us. We will definitely not return to this restaurant.
