Bidra med feedbackWe had a wonderful evening by a cozy log fire, enjoying excellent fish and chips and great company. The owners were very attentive and made us feel incredibly welcomed. We have dined here several times and have never been disappointed. We are eagerly anticipating our next visit.
This restaurant is a very welcoming place to visit. While riding bikes through Old Bolingbroke with a group of 8 others, we arrived 15 minutes late for our scheduled afternoon tea. The staff kindly kept the restaurant open for us and greeted us warmly. This is the second year in a row that we have chosen to stop here. The Landlady's cakes are absolutely delicious!
This charming pub in Old Bollingbroke serves delicious real ale, including Young's Golden Beast. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a fantastic ploughman's lunch with Wooky Hole cheddar. I highly recommend this place for a meal and a pint after visiting Old Bolingbroke Castle nearby. The pub is dog-friendly, has plenty of parking, and the hosts are charming. We will definitely be returning.
The village is lovely with friendly people, ideal for a week away with friends, however the pub has to be the most unwelcoming and scruffiest place I have seen in a while. Given only three people in on a Saturday may have expected a welcome but no, two scruffy people behind bar seemed to find it a hassle to serve drinks yet alone be civil. We decided not to eat there as if the front of house is so bad what would the kitchens be like. Eat with friends at nearby Hagworthingam and Raithby instead during our stay both excellent value and good beer and cider. Notice outside the pub sets the scene really ask for permission to enter if you have kids!
There is a notice on the door asking you to request permission for children to enter. There was no lunch on offer today as the chef is on holiday . The patio smells of oil and needs major tlc. Such a shame for such a nice village. I shall not be going back to this pub.
