Bidra med feedbackI stopped by for lunch after a long walk and enjoyed the food. I only ordered sandwiches, which were served with a side salad. The dishes lacked a bit of flavor, but overall they were satisfying.
We had a long drive and decided to stop overnight in Penrith. After looking on Tripadvisor, we chose to dine at The Sun Inn. Despite some initial doubts, our stay turned out to be incredibly special. This small, lively pub has a great atmosphere and is a free house. We had to wait a bit for our meal, which was a good sign of how busy it was. The drink selection was excellent, with me choosing an IPA and my wife opting for a Malbec. We only planned to have one drink before our meal, but ended up having a couple more. When we sat down for our meal, we were told that everything was homemade and locally sourced. The portions were generous, so we decided to just have a main course. The 12oz Porterhouse Steak caught my eye on the menu, priced at £22. I couldn't believe it, as the last time I had a Porterhouse was at Gordon Ramsay's Bread Kitchen Restaurant in Edinburgh for around £100. Despite my skepticism, we decided to try it. The food was outstanding, with the homemade chips and onion rings being particularly delicious. The steak was perfectly cooked and paired well with the Malbec. The room was clean and had coffee, tea, water bottles, and biscuits. The en-suite bathroom had a dual head shower and provided toiletries. The breakfast was excellent, although there was almost too much food for us to finish. The service was attentive and friendly, making sure everything was to our liking and welcoming feedback. Overall, this place offers incredible value for money and makes you feel valued as a guest. The food was sensational, and we will definitely be returning. I highly recommend The Sun Inn - it's a hidden gem.
Easter Sunday lunch, wow what excellent service despite being very busy. Food was top notch, served beautifully and in a timely manner even though they were very busy. Thank you one and all for a lovely experience.
We preordered a party of six. very busy in the bar when we went in (Carlisle Race day) got our drinks and were seated in the dining room. Dining room full. Was told our meal would be 5 minutes was maybe 10 but it didnt matter, Bit confusing when we received as seemed to have different names to what we remembered ordering. Mine was rump steak and the waitress called it sizzling beef. Another member ended up with two meals. Anyway the chef came out and sorted thanks to him. we all had a laugh. meal was lovely only thing was no-one came and asked if we would like a sweet. It wasnt a big deal as we were too full. would have been nice to have been asked though. I am sure we will be back.
