Bidra med feedbackWhile wandering around Edinburgh, I had a strong craving for noodles and stumbled upon Yocoko, the first restaurant I saw. I was pleased to find that it was budget-friendly. I opted for the mixed meat with vermicelli noodles (dry, Cantonese style) and added an extra rabbit-shaped rice dish for its cuteness factor. The noodles hit the spot with their wok-fried, soy sauce base and generous mix of chicken, beef, and pork. Simple yet delicious. The rabbit-shaped rice looked different from the menu but was still adorable and tasty, consisting of sticky rice in a tomato and egg soup bed. The whole meal came to about £8 and left me feeling satisfied. The service was friendly and quick, and the restaurant provided a peaceful atmosphere to unwind in after a day of exploring the city. If you're in the mood for a hearty, affordable meal, Yocoko is the place to go.
The waitstaff at this restaurant is extremely polite and professional. The bathrooms are clean and well-maintained. In terms of the food, it seems that ethnic restaurants in Edinburgh have adjusted their seasonings to cater to the local taste, unlike the more authentic options in Toronto. The flavors here are a bit subdued, but the meal was satisfactory. It's worth noting that the shrimps were deveined, indicating a commitment to cleanliness.
I absolutely love this place! I am quite surprised by the mixed reviews, as I have always had a great experience here. Yocoko is known for its quick service, affordable prices, and wide variety of food options. I tend to go for noodle dishes, as I’m a big fan of noodles, but they also offer rice dishes. One great perk of Yocoko is that they provide as much green tea as you like for free. Together with the excellent value at this restaurant, you can easily enjoy a meal and drinks for under £10, which is a fantastic deal in the heart of Edinburgh. I personally prefer Yocoko over Red Box because the food is served on plates and drinks are in glasses. I highly recommend giving this place a try.
We visited this place midday. Instead of haggis or coffee with shortbread something Asian style. We were not disappointed, fast service and fair prices. Shortly after placing the order we got our dishes. Sure we are from Germany and in one instance more guessed what we have ordered lacking some vocabulary but it was all good. The only missing points for a five star review, the chairs are something worn out and the fast delivered and freshly cooked noodle dish was a little bit to greasy.
Popped in here last night on a whim as I was looking for somewhere to meet a friend and have something to eat while waiting. As it happened, friend arrived pretty promptly so we both ended up eating. It 's a largely Chinese style noodle bar, which in effect means that the menu is pretty standard Chinese restaurant fare. Although they did offer 'Japanese style ' dishes, don 't expect a Wagamama experience. We both ordered the Japanese mixed vegetable meal, which was a tray with a bowl of rice and mixed veg disappointingly lacking anything exotic (like mushrooms with a teacup sized bowl of salad almost drowned under a large dollop of what I assume was mayonnaisel a cup of miso soup not the hearty, seaweed laced red miso that you get in Wagamama, but a thin, almost clear watery miso with stringy bits of something (egg? through it. To finish, there was a solitary strawberry on a wee dish sitting forlornly in the corner of the tray. Very odd. However, it was late and choices were limited here, the place was certainly busy enough, the food was hot and reasonably priced we both also had a beer and the bill was only £16 so can 't really complain. Cheap and cheerful.
