Gillespie Field Cafe - El Cajon

We had the Philly steak sandwich. It was fantastic. I love the waitress. She very pleasant.

Tasty breakfast at a unique venue. Scrambled eggs sausage on the biscuits covered with gravy was a new way to serve this traditional dish. Small plane engine noise is expected when next to a regional airport. Large covered outdoor dining area was a welcome addition on a mild summer morning.

Gillespie Field Cafe is the BEST all around cafe in San Diego. I 've been a ongoing customer there since 2009 and every visit has been 5/5 Star Outstanding. My only wish is that they would open at 6 a.m. instead of 7 a.m., and stay open for dinner. Plus, the new "Grab n Go is a huge convenience. The quiche is delicious .

Upon entering, I was greeted warmly by the staff, and I noticed that the restaurant was very clean. The menu offered a wonderful variety of options. Breakfast seemed quite popular here, with many tempting diner-style choices, including biscuits and gravy. However, I opted for lunch and ordered the turkey melt sandwich, which came with lettuce and avocado, along with a side of potato salad. The meal was generous in portion and absolutely delicious—completely satisfying my hunger. The staff checked in on me a few times to ensure I had everything I needed, and when it was time to settle the bill, they made the process quick and easy—no fuss, just pay and go! I'm definitely looking forward to coming back soon.

It's always bustling here, and while the wait can be long, it's definitely worth it. I enjoy watching the planes take off while I relax with a delicious Bloody Mary.
