Junket - El Cerrito

I was born in Milwaukee, which is known for its German heritage. Until now, I had never had amazing German dishes outside of Wisconsin, particularly in the East Bay. That has changed, and you can now consider me a lifelong customer. It was a perfect meal.

The Reuben sandwich was outstanding! However, the spinach brioche felt a bit small and lacking for its price. The potato and bean salads were tasty, but the portion sizes were on the smaller side. On a positive note, they offered a beautiful selection of German bread beers.

The reubens were excellent! They were made with dark rye, and we would love to have that option again next time! The German potato salad was also fantastic!

Old fashion deli with European goodies. Love the pastrami sandwich always served with a pimple. My husband gets a headache, blood sausage or tongue. You can't get them in every deli.

My first visit after Junket was recommended by a foodie friend. Excellent roast beef sandwich on a fresh and crusty french roll. Several German beers on tap. Deli meats and cheeses for sale including some hard to find German ones. A modest selection of German and British groceries. Maybe the selection will increase as pandemic fades. I'll be back. Trader Joes is just a few doors away so I can combine visits.
