Cowboy N Angles - Elgin

Whenever I travel, I always try to locate a good locally-owned establishment. While traveling Hwy 204 on a Sunday afternoon, I thought I had happened upon a quaint little place. I was greeted by a friendly hello and told to seat myself anywhere. That was the last interaction I had with anyone. For the next 15 minutes I waited patiently for a menu, a glass of water, or even just a wink or a nod that my presence was noted and someone would eventually serve me. Nothing. I did not receive so much as even eye contact with any wait staff. Mind you, the place was not busy and I was not in any hurry whatsoever. Do they only serve locals? After 15 minutes of waiting I stood up and walked out. No one said a word to me. It may be that they have good food, but I 'll never know. I ended up at Subway.

Friendly staff, clean facility and decent food. My Philly cheese steak was cubed beef rather than sliced. Little tough but very edible with the peppers, onions and cheese. The wife had the taco salad said it was very good. My only complaint is chips vs fries with your sandwich . Fries are extra as are side salad in lieu of chips. Otherwise it was good and about average priced. $20 for two for lunch. Great iced tea and strawberry lemonade. Decent salad bar, not outstanding but good. We'll try breakfast here someday. Fast and pleasant service. We had a large group and was served promptly .

For Elgin it's a 5 star experience. Anywhere else this is probably a 3. The food is very tasty and good portions, but it's mostly store bought and an average dining experience. To be fair, we just ordered sandwiches.

Stopped in for dinner, they are just getting their dinner menu up and running. We had a Reuben and the patty melt. Reuben was good patty melt was awesome. Heard they had a great breakfast so we tried the biscuits and gravy, Outstanding!!

The family and I ventured out last night to try a new place in the county and unfortunately it wasn 't worth the trip from La Grande. The menu wasn 't appealing and I ended up getting a side salad and their soup special, tomatoe bisk and it was so bland I had to add a couple splashes of salt to get any flavor. My mom got the dinner special beef tips and rice and it was also in need of some flavor. Honestly it tasted like it was from a can. Highly disappointed with this place and won 't be back again.
