Village Pizza And Pub Elgin

We dined in and ordered a pizza, but we couldn't finish it, so we took some home. Unfortunately, there was a small piece of wood or something similar in it. When I had a piece at home, the sliver pierced the roof of my mouth. I called the restaurant to report it, and they said that this isn't the first time they've heard of such an issue. They claimed it was just oregano and that they were doing their best to remove it. If they know that there are slivers of oregano that could hurt someone, why would they continue to use it in their food without ensuring it's safe? They didn't even check to see if I was okay. The roof of my mouth bled for an hour. I won't be dining there again, nor will my family.

While the food is tasty, it isn't particularly unique, although you can't find similar options elsewhere. I would rate the food 5 stars, but the unwelcoming attitude deserves only 1 star. So, overall, I would give it 3 stars. I can't help but wonder if the owner or upper management fosters this atmosphere, as it's hard to believe they would hire or keep so many employees with such poor attitudes otherwise. It feels like this negative culture trickles down from the top.

This rustic bar grill style restaurant does have a pizza focus but has a full bar and gaming area, as well as plenty of space for special events. Located right off Randall Rd. in Elgin, and just north of I-90 by a few streets so easy access off the highway, this restaurant has gluten free options for food, features a small arcade for kids, and a southern den-style theme straight out of south/midwest atmosphere. You'll see a lot of stuffed animals throughout- mounted heads and full size smaller animals, as well as vintage firearms, antlers, farm equipment, and such to complete the look. The center of the restaurant features a 3+ story raised/open ceiling around a fireplace, and the wood beams throughout give it the look and feel of a barn or lodge. I only took off 1 star for service as my wife and I waited to be served for about 5 minutes on a Sunday with a lower customer crowd inside- maybe they were short-staffed at the time; otherwise, the atmosphere, food, and service by the staff after that was great! Vegetarian options: Gluten free food options like the margherita pizza. Kid-friendliness: There is a small arcade inside where kids can play and give parents some free time to socialize.

The service here is really bad. I came here 6 months ago and they never served our table until we had to ask a bus boy to get a waitress for us. We came back thinking about giving it another chance because the food was good. We waited 20 min and no one even acknowledged we were there. After 20 min a party of like 8 walked in and they were served immediately. We just got up and walked out. Definitely won’t be coming back.
