Barley Pizza - Elizabeth City

This is a fantastic restaurant! We've been there several times, and each time the food has been excellent. It's far superior to chain restaurants.

I ordered a cheese steak sub as part of the lunch special, which came with fries and a drink for $10. Considering the price, it was a good amount of food. However, I wish they had added mayo and mustard to the sandwich, as it felt a bit dry without them. I also tried the wings, but they were mediocre and seemed poorly seasoned, so I wasn’t impressed. Their pizzas are decent, similar to Van's, but since they're priced lower, they offer better value.

The Chicken Parm Sandwich was cooked to perfection. It featured just the right amount of chicken, sauce, and cheese, all nestled in a high-quality Italian roll. Plus, it was priced under $8! We also enjoyed a large, thin-crust cheese and mushroom pizza. The crust was excellent, with a traditional cornmeal dusting, as opposed to the rolled oven method used by many larger pizza chains. The pizza’s sauce and spices were flavorful. I would have appreciated a few more mushrooms, but that's on me for not requesting extra! Just a heads up: all pickup orders are done through the drive-thru, so be prepared for a wait in line. The drive-thru was quite busy, which shows that the locals really appreciate the delicious food and great value! A quick update as of March 6: the indoor kitchen is still closed.
