Bidra med feedbackMy wife and I had to spend several nights at the Windrow hotel because we were evacuated due to the Cow Canyon fire. We live in the hills above town and are familiar with many local restaurants, but we were tired and decided to stay at the hotel, enjoy a few drinks, and dine at Basalt. It turned out to be a fantastic decision. The food was delicious, the drinks were excellent, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable. Both the chef and bartender were attentive and ensured we received exactly what we ordered. Despite usually visiting various restaurants in town at least once a week, we ended up eating at Basalt every night of our stay. Moving forward, we plan to return at least twice a month for our date night, splitting it between Mule and Basalt after 25 years of marriage. If you visit Basalt, be sure to check out the rooftop bar as well. Overall, the Windrow hotel is a wonderful place to stay.
We live in the hills of Ellensburg and had to evacuate our home because of a wildfire. During our stay at the Windrow Hotel, we dined at their restaurant, Basalt. The food was outstanding, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the drinks were fantastic. We highly recommend it!
We enjoyed the Mamma Mia dinner before heading to the play. The appetizer was outstanding! While the main course was beautifully presented, it was a bit dry. The dessert didn't match what was listed on the menu, but it was still tasty. Our server was very friendly.
Have stayed a number of times at the lovely Hotel Windrow, an unexpected oasis in Ellensburg. And had eaten at the restaurant before with no complaints. On our most recent two-night stay we had successive dinners for 3. The first night was great. A nice steak! Good wine! But the second night a bottle of rose was obviously corked, with a terrible bouquet and taste, and for perhaps the first time we sent a bottle of wine back and ordered a new bottle. But to our surprise we were also charged the over-$40 for the corked bottle of wine we didn't drink. The restaurant in that situation shouldn't charge the customer, but simply tell its supplier to replace a bad bottle of wine! No loss to customer or restaurant.
Basalt is wonderful. An ambiance unlike any other in the area and amazing flavors in the bar as well as kitchen. Dylan, the bartender is great and the mussels had incredible flavor.
