La Fontana - ENNA

Talk about 'spot the tourist '! Not speaking the local language, we ordered what we knew gnocchi Calabrese and Penne with four cheeses both quite salty and both unappetizing. For €32 (AUD47), including a VERY small bottle of local wine, we won 't be back! We should have known not to go in when there was no one there. We walked around the corner to return to our accommodation and there were two restaurants there that looked great and had plenty of diners too.

Despite the old negative reviews, my review is quite the opposite. We were detoured due to the local wildland fires so we decided to have dinner and wait it out. There was a group of 18+ and we dined outdoors near the fountain in the enclosed tent area. It was around 2100 hrs. and we were the only people dining at this restaurant. The food was excellent, the drinks were good as was the service. Only 1 server was working and she did an excellent job. The owner chef engaged with us after dinner and is a pleasant and friendly person. The dining area was clean as were the restrooms. If we were ever to visit Enna again I would have dinner here again.

We stop there a bit randomly today, we felt welcome like if we were home. The owner of the place is the typical Sicilian mama (which brought back good memories), ultra friendly, interested and generous! We order our dishes but were served some extra as sample for us to try, both persons tried to have a chat despite our bad Italian and the food was just great! I'll definitely stop by next time I visit Enna.

We arrived having not read any reviews, however, the lack of any hospitality and welcome despite us both speaking Italian was somewhat surprising. No sense of atmosphere despite a unique and interesting looking restaurant. We left immediately having learnt that is you cannot make your customer welcome then I am not sure they are worthy of our hard earned cash
